It rained all day like most of the week except Friday so no gardening out side today. Potted on some fuchsia - Ivy leaf pelargonium cutting, took a few more pelagoniums cutting. Removed most of the foliage on the tomatoes.

Think I'll get out early tomorrow on the bike stop for a brew / butty and hunt down some more bulbs, I need some more mid size daffs like jenny and muscari for some pots I have planned. Need to do some Salvia cutting as well before its to late. More work has to be done on the lawn also.

Hi @Linz. That's very descent of you. There are a lot of miles between us. Would it be cost effective to send them out?

I put my new greenhouse together today. Now all I have to do is take it outside.

Agreed. We have quite a few different types and sizes. Variegated green and gold (different amounts of each), variegated green and silver and some gold ones. Easy to look after and can be cut like a hedge.

I've had a little helper today. It's been a good day. We didn't actually get much gardening done but we managed to fill the day. What's the point of grandchildren if you can't put them to work :snorky:

Seriously. When the children stayed with us a couple of weeks ago, the eldest one wanted to help me in the garden. Unfortunately at that time there was nothing she could help me with. Today I woke up and the sun was shining. I had one taxi job first thing in the morning so I asked if I could borrow Bethany for the day. Her mum said I could. :dbgrtmb:

I never had children of my own so I never got that bonding experience. I didn't see much of Bethany when she was little so I'm glad of the times we get to spend together now.

Anyway. Gardening? We spent more time moving things out of the way than we did gardening. That happens a lot in our house. Things don't have permanent homes and just get moved about from one place to another. We started to tackle the remaining roots of the sumach tree. There are far more bits and farther reaching than you could ever imagine. I dug a deep (ish) trench and turned over the soil so we could pick the bits out. Unfortunately we ended up with a great big pile of soil that was too big to sift through. Somehow we need to find a way of moving the soil, sifting it and putting it back afterwards. I'm not sure how we are going to that.

At least we made a start. I remarked to her that if we carried on at the same rate, by the time she finished school (another 4 years) we will have got that bed cleared. She agreed :snorky:.

She even made lunch and washed up after. Bless her. Well my wife was at work so somebody had to do it.

                  :Wino:

@Jack Sparrow You could try the old double digging method. It's actually a way of digging a vegetable plot deeply but the principle of the method could work for you.

You dig out a section, at one end of the area that you will need to dig over, and barrow it to the far end of the area to be dug over.

You then dig the next section and tip it into the hole (trench) you've dug. All you need to do is sieve it, or check it over, before dropping it into the hole. Then you can start on the next section and sieve it into the hole etc. :dbgrtmb:

Getting a voucher for recommending a plant provider.......free plants for me too. :)
I will be visiting a nursery tomorrow where they have a sale on. Last year they had some real bargains so I have high hopes. Mind you, I am again building up large pots of perennials needing homes.....the insanity of gardeners? We buy more and more dont we? Our existing plants get bigger and bigger thus taking up more space, our lawns are constantly reduced to accommodate more plants.

:heehee: Sounds like you qualify for membership of the Obsessive Compulsive Plant Horders Club. I had 23 pots to water this year due to OCPHC :loll:. I have to go to the hardware store tomorrow for non gardening items but no doubt will find myself wandering into the garden centre part. Who knows what may happen then :snorky: :snorky:.
