The soil was from the area dug out last spring to make way for the foundations for the path and catio. It was just dumped into a big pile and left. I have no idea what vegetation may have have been lurking in there when I dumped it. It has also been sitting there uncovered ever since.

So do I that's why I have rescued Ghost Carp almost filled the hole in (4 hours),still some way to go,as I need some more topsoil but I am officially cream crackered, but I am so fortunate that I can still shift ,lift and dig as good as a youngster,my Grandaughter phoned me up this morning at 7am before she went to school ,Chloe she is 5 and said Grandad you are special,I think that spurred yours truly on;):blue thumb:

Good morning @luciusmaximus my friend my reasons are as follows;)

                  1. After getting down in to the empty pond I found that the liner has a large hole in it so I decided that the cost of a new pond liner and all the heavy work it would take rebuild the pond was not a viable option at this moment in time

2.Two of my Grandchildren are 5 and 8 and I was concerned that as they are running all over the garden they might fall in it.

Bird boxes cleaned out, pear trees pruned, the rest of the grasses cut back, a bit more weeding near the rhubarb patch, loads of moss scraped off front path and driveway (filled a wheelie bin).

Aww, that's a shame . I did read your comments about the water level dropping. I debated using a liner when setting up my new pond and decided against it. At least you will have more space for your Crocosmia collection :)

The strong winds increased yesterday with a few icy showers. During a sunny spell I ventured forth and quickly planted up another tray of Tete a Tete Daffs. Refreshed the bird baths and refilled feeders.

Unfortunately I addressed it to "Master Shiney," so you might not get it.
According to a report I've just read in today's mail, a postie had been pinching any letter addressed to either "Miss or Master," as there was the possibility of it being a birthday card with money in it.
