I've just had new ones mate and secured them and a neighbour walked past and said to my hubby you want to make sure they're secure...so when he told me that made me a bit paranoid :phew:

“A recent Home Office study found that thieves are actually more likely to steal garden furniture, including gnomes (9.6 per cent of thefts) than credit or debit cards (8.2 per cent).”

Beautiful day yesterday, just amazing. Spent almost 6 hours in the garden, although a lot of that time was reclining on a zero g chair watching the little birds flitting back and forth to the feeding dishes 4 ft away from me.

I made a start on cutting grass in side garden - first cut of the year :rolleyespink:. Going to take a couple of goes at it. Deadheaded some daffs in my large sink out front and contemplated what to do with it next. Stuck a couple of small heathers into pots to grow on a bit. Watered all of my pots. Scrubbed out large stone bird bath and water butt lid they use to drink from.

Daily peer into pond revealed tiny water snail :yahoo: :hapydancsmil:. Likely arrived with the new pond plants. I had a look at the plastic box behind the shed. The water is crystal clear. I could see tiny dots swimming around, possibly water fleas. No further sightings of the toad . Had camera out by the pond and it's picked up little mouse scampering around. Maybe same mouse that is scoffing the hog's food in caravan.

Today I'm having a day off from decorating and spending some time in my greenhouse, repotting some young clematis on potting on some new ones I've just got, and checking over my fuchsias that are in the greenhouse as well. As they are showing new growth. When I looked in yesterday

And having a good old fashioned tidy up around the garden

Plant 2 bags of seed potatoes

Then I am going to sweeten and bottle some peach wine and get some elderflower wine going

Had a mega busy day yesterday. Cleared the weeds out the gravel around the centre patio bit - took blooming ages as the grass seeds sown by the lawn maintenance people (who I've now got rid of) had been carelessly sown.

Whilst digging in the gravel I found LOADS of what I now know are leather jackets! Gross....everytime I came across one I saved it in a bowl. Found loads....then looked in my little nature pond and there were loads there too! Apparently very common after a wet winter. Needless to say I chucked them all in the koi pond and they were scoffed before they could sink to the bottom! The koi loved them!

Also cleared out the cold frame and scrubbed it with jeyes fluid. Moved some plants into there out of the greenhouse as need more space. Had a good tidy up and refilled the garden waste bin. It had been baking hot ALL day and then went and spoilt itself about 8:30pm when there was a massive rain storm. So....still have to wait for the grass to dry out before I can mow it - it is so wet - hoping it will dry out during the week!

Today I am going to attempt to make a floating planter for the pond which will protect plants from the koi. They didn't attack the water hyacinths last year but would like a bit more variety. The water hyacinths are only annuals and my attempt to overwinter them wasn't successful :(

:wow: You have been busy Snorky. We just spent the day at the garden centres buying trays of bedding and cottage garden plants so didn’t take advantage of the good weather, which is a shame really as we have lots to do.
