Had a productive stint in the garden today and achieved quite a lot. Weather was beautiful, which always makes gardening more enjoyable.

As mentioned in Gardening Aspirations I spent most of my time working on the pond

I was going to put a Bog garden in front of the pond but upon commencing digging I started uncovering lots of worms. I mean lots of them, including baby worms. I did carefully relocate them but there were so many I decided to leave them in peace and now have Plan B.

Later I started removing weeds and grass by the boundary wall prior to planting hedging and again the earth contained a lot of worms.

I did a bit of weeding around the Birch tree and a Hydrangea. This area was reclaimed from the jungle last year and I noticed a little while ago there are Bluebells, Daffodils, Nerines and Snowdrops planted there. I didn't know I had them :yahoo: :hapydancsmil:

Started raking through one of the bun runs but the grass needs a trim first and it was still very wet.

Whilst in the garden there was a murder. I didn't see anything, just heard the commotion and the screaming :cry3:. Probably that Sparrowhawk :gaah:. Kind of made the afternoon end on a bit of a sour note.

I spent an hour or so in the garden today, the first time the weather has allowed me out there to do anything in nearly two months. I've started to clear tree debris - they really need some work on them as there's a lot of dead wood still attached.

Moving around the garden I was hoping to see bulbs sprouting having been told by the previous owner there were quite a few. Yes, they may still be underground but I'm beginning to doubt that. All I've found is a small clump of snowdrops about two inches high that would fit in a 1 litre pot. I'm just hoping if there are late bulbs out there they are not bluebells!

Hi @wiseowl I see that you've managed to lose weight :blue thumb: :yay:. I'm trying to do that but not succeeding. I have plenty of willpower - except with regard to food!

All I've done in the garden in the last couple of days is a little bit of weeding :noidea:

Had my little heater on in the greenhouse and was all cozy yesterday. Planted trays of seeds-alyssum, bergamot x 2, gaillarda (sp?), dahlia, shallots, chives and leeks.
                        IMG_3889.JPG

Put them all in the conservatory to save having a heater on in the greenhouse. Ran out of covers and no plastic bags so used a bit of cling film.

Planted the begonia corms/bulbs (whatever they are) and dahlias and left them in the greenhouse.

Also got some orchid compost and repotted some that my grandma and I had been growing over the last few years-grown from one of those glass bottles with tiny bits of orchids in at bangkok airport (theyve been growing about 6 years now!!)

Also planned the project outback and got mr snorks approval to go ahead and start getting quotes etc. I will do a separate post on this project!

Been up since 4:45 after doing an airport run so a bit tired now. But if it stays dry I might do the "wet and forget" outside.

@Snorky85 , I think you need to keep the Begonia corms in the warm. Dahlias should be fine , I plant mine in the GH mid March . Begonias will not need much light to sprout so any unused out of the way corner should be good. All of us struggle for warm usable inside space in Feb-March , until seedlings can move out to the GH. Cause of many a domestic ! :snorky:

ha ha - thought it would cause a domestic but mr snorks thought it was a good idea (maybe he is not feeling ok?!)

Ah - will bring the begonia corms in or wrap them up warmer in the greenhouse. Never done them from corms before. I'd saved a few from last year and planted them too.
