Spent a busy morning up at the lotty sowing seeds, planting the leeks and shallots that id grown from seed.

The whole lotty has had a good tidy up and is looking smart. Very pleased.

Harvested third lot of rhubarb and have got it stewing in a demijon with sugar overnight-gin will be added tomorrow. He he.

Been out in the garden this evening and done a batch of slug nematodes. Last night i was out there with chopsticks and an old yogurt tub with salt. Lol.

I planted two Clematis on either side of the Trellis entrance to the garden, potted up 24 Cosmos Brightness Red, 27 Cosmos Dutch Rose, 32 Lupin Pixie Delight, and then planted a clump of Monarda Garden View Scarlet. After that I watered some of the large pots that looked a little dry, filled up the Wildlife pond by leaving the permanently fixed hose on for an hour which got the level up to the sloping shelf of the pond, while also netting some dead leaves and stems from the surface making it look a bit tidier. I've still got to pot up Zinnias, Asters, more Lupins, Echinacea, Verbena, Aquilegia, and several more seed trays..............a tomorrow job.:dunno::coffee::snorky:

Had a wonderful afternoon. Got one of the raised beds totally ready for planting out. Part has cold frame covers so Ill be able to move some of my hardy plants into them this coming week.

Picked up all of the twigs from the lawn.

Then discovered my little rhubarb plant making an appearance.

        It doesn't get better than this ! :) :) :)

It was still too hot to do much in the garden. Got the extension lead for the hose out, attached it to the hose for the front garden and set up the sprinkler. The beds in the front garden are suffering a bit from all the dry hot weather. I moved the sprinkler every hour and it looks as though this will be the pattern for the next week or so. They have forecast possible rain in 11 days time - I won't hold my breathe.

Spent a few tedious hours removing aphids from the chilli plants. Rubbing off the massive infestation on the leaves and washing off the flowers and buds. Only about four dozen more plants to go :phew:. Then it will mean constant attention to stop it recurring. We don't use chemicals in our garden - except for watering all plants for sale with vine weevil killer.

            Enjoy those grasses lucius :)
Apparently we had the hottest weather in the UK yesterday...true or not it was fantastic:SUNsmile:
Grass cut, plants planted, the odd lily beetle crushed, some weeding, the immense pleasure to see first signs of growth on late-to-grow perennials like spigelia, etc. Interspersed with the odd lager. :)
Today much cooler....dry down the beach but some light drizzle about I think for this morning so I hope to get more things sown in veg patch.

Potted on 3 of me prickly pears after I noticed one in a bigger pot was growing faster than the others

Good morning I have planted 20 large pots up from the greenhouse and mowed 3 lawns but as the temperature is currently 73 degrees Fahrenheit I am going to have a rest under the Stella cherry tree;)

Enjoy your rest WO. You seem to have earned it :)

I too have been busy in the garden.....runner bean frame erected, more peas sown, more carrots sown; I enjoy raking and prepping veg soil. It's a deep sandy loam, easy to work and produces a good fine tilth. Also a couple of large delphiniums planted out from pots.:)

Was a hot one, a bit too hot for me tbh.

Yesterday, removed back end from my Hayter Harrier 56, and repaired the drive system. and mowed lawn.

The stripped engine from my tiller, repaired carb and reset governor. Now going to give my veg patch a going over. After that I'm going to have a couple of cold ones to celebrate. ;)

I've just potted up 196 Zinnia "Early Wonder" into 4 cell trays and then continued to pot up Lupin "The Governor" into single pots before rain stopped play.:dunno::wallbanging::gaah::heehee: As soon as the weather dries up I'll go back to finish off potting the Lupins. Then I've got another seed tray of Lupin "Tutti Frutti" to pot up into single pots so, hopefully I can finish doing that task.:coffee::snorky:

The end of the shed has been painted and covered with wire mesh. It doesn't look very pretty at the moment.

Lurkalot, I like the idea of "couple of cold ones to celebrate" :snorky:

Forecast wasnt great for today but the rain didnt appear; instead we had another scorcher. Love it!

Painting the passageway....50' long x 6' wide.....but mixing it with work in the garden.

Shed looks great Gary....decided on a climber yet? :)

Getting petrol earlier I felt this huge shadow overcome me.......a guy 7' 1" was standing behind. "Whats it like up there"? I asked. "Great" he said. I'm not a small guy but I sure felt short! Bet he drives a mini! :snorky:

Hope everyone is getting good weather today

@Doghouse Riley thanks. I'm find it increasingly difficult to do jobs in the garden on my own. This was one of them. I got there in the end thankfully. My wife, bless her, works more than I do so she is not often around to help. As her kind of help is usually telling me I'm doing it wrong, I tend to try to struggle on the best I can when she is not around.

As it will take several years for a climber to cover the shed, I thought would try some hanging baskets. We are also looking at an outside clock. Either a station clock or a weather station. Groupon had a nice clock and hanging basket set but for some reason you had to buy 2 of them. Uh?

I have also added a bit more soil in the bed there. I am hoping to out some plants in there soon.

                              G.

Had a wander around today, after the rain not a lot to do. Gave the Sambuca a spray. I have to watch this as it is susceptible to blackfly. In past years it has got covered in them seemingly overnight and gone quite limp. It has been so bad that I've had to hold the hose and spray it with one hand whilst wiping them off with the other. But by morning it's back to it's old self. We prune it back each year. It'll be half as tall again by mid summer.

                                P1010329.JPG

The blossom from the Conference pear is starting to blow onto the lawn. I guess it's "had its moment."

Some tiny flowers are already developing.

                                P1010330.JPG

These are my two favourite azaleas, one's over 7ft tall. I love the fresh green of the leaves at this time of the year.

                                P1010326.JPG

I think their two colours complement each other, an accidental pairing.

                                P1000532.JPG

This azalea always surprises me, it's always been out of favour with my wife as she doesn't like the colour, I guess it does look a bit "plasticy." So it's always been relegated to the front garden, in the corner near next door's bay window. It doesn't get a lot of sun but always thrives. The blooms will mostly be gone by the time the many pink ones to the left come out.

                                P1010325.JPG

Most of the morning was spent in the garage, packing up my old leccy piano and its stand, which I sold on e-Bay. I had to cut down the box of the new one for it. It's now "in the way" in the hall, ready for collection tomorrow. So I'm not exactly flavour of the day. It has to stay there as I'll be playing golf when TNT come for it.
