No gardening for past two days due to :rain: and wind :wallbanging: . Fed birds and hedgehogs. Cold enough to warrant the heating being switched back on :hate-shocked: ( I have elderly pets who feel the cold ).

Today the weather is better but I've got the day from hell - a trip to Durham. I don't like driving at best of times and particularly don't like all day trips involving heavy traffic and unfamiliar roads and no SatNav either

Looking good all. DR I think I need a wisteria pruning master class from you :)

Public holiday here and beautiful autumn weather. Topped up some of the raised beds with compost and manure, carted what felt like a million barrow loads of wood chips for the paths around the raised beds, weeded, fertilised the bulb pots, sifted compost and potting mix and got small pots ready for sowing more seeds, planted out some leeks, dug half the Jerusalem artichokes, repotted a few things and planted out a hydrangea cutting from mum. Did a bit of watering as it's very dry for this time of year.

Other half fixed up some of the fencing between the orchard area and backyard. Previous owner was fond of patching everything with about fifty nails and a rusty piece of wire that will poke your eye out. Looks much better now.

Completely exhausted now and enjoying a cold beer in front in front of the fire. Ahhhhh.

He is isn't he? Big shoes to fill replacing Peter Cundall (such a soothing voice!) but he's made a go of it.

Feeling a bit sore today, seed sowing only I think.

Wise owl, who does put those things at the back of the shed? :heehee: You made a good choice.

@wiseowl I hope you had a good walk Woo :) and took lots of pics :).

Finally arrived home at 10.30 last night after a total of 5 and 1/2 hours driving. Opened car door and was immediately enveloped in fresh, clean air with a hint of saltiness. Wonderfully quiet, just the wind blowing through the trees. Part of the journey home was over the Pennines, which was quite lovely :wub2:. The drive from Lymm to Conwy in heavy traffic was not so lovely :ouch1:.

Hoping to get some gardening time in today.

Have spent this evening potting up a delivery of bulbs from Himalayan Gardens.

Although I've jet-washed it, I gave the whole drive a "water" with a watering can with a fine rose, of a 80/20 solution of water and household bleach, to kill off any moss that the jet-washing didn't exterminate. I gave it a good scrub in with a deck scrubber, I was careful not to get it near the plants (or my car).

I'll give it another go later in the year.

Not much done today - not really in gardening frame of mind, no energy or motivation. I did plant up one of my pots, strim small area of grass and plant some more grasses by the pond.
                          IMG_20180426_1734485_rewind.jpg

Two of my pond plants have died and a third is not looking too healthy . Not sure why.

@Verdun I had a water forget me not, a creeping jenny and golden buttons. All standing on the shelves, so shallow water. When I put them into the pond the plants were completely covered by a thin layer of water, I wondered if this might be the problem?

Prob the very cold snap we had lucius. They will be fine covered with water :)

Wet morning, wet overnight and prob wet all day:sad: mind you, it makes the garden look fresh.

Bloomin' puppy cant resist biting plants in pots and yesterday he chewed parts of a lovely white azalea, the flowers on an echevaria and a zaluzianskya; not terrible damage but he will learn in time :). Took him along a floral walkway yesterday and everybody fell in love with him...a bundle of fluffy, white mischief:)

Intended today to be planting day at my nephew's but far too wet. I have a lot of plants to take over; postponed until next week now
