@Sian in Belgium how is your poorly doggy? What's wrong?

@shiney I hadn't considered bunnies :ideaIPB:. We do get the occasional wild bun in the garden, so it's possible.

@Verdun the pony tails are in compost which is around the pond. I moved them yesterday and the roots were not overly wet. I did notice the roots are still contained within the compost they came in, no signs of growing outwards.

@Gail_68 if you do get a chance for a belfast sink then grab it quickly. You won't regret having one:). So many choices for a sink apart from alpines, they're very versatile :dbgrtmb:.

@martin-f I'm sure it will look stunning whatever you decide to plant in it :). I've not got alpines in any of my sinks but funnily enough today I copied one of Monty's ideas and planted two alpines in a terracotta pot that previously had Iris in. The pot is now sat on top of my newly painted patio table :snorky:

She seems better today, thank you @Verdun and everyone else for asking! Slept through the night, without getting me up every 30 mins or so, so a huge improvement.

She is generally a very fit dog, but occasionally her guts will go crazy. This results in a seriously squitty bottom (sorry for the technical jargon!), and in the past can take weeks to sort out. Last time it was really bad - January/February - I bit the bullet and had a full blood screen done on her. €110 later :thud:, and I have an incredibly healthy 11 year-old :blue thumb:, who seems to be unable to properly digest the starch in rice. A bit of a problem when you diligently follow the recommended advice for an upset tum - "gentle" meals of chicken and rice!

So this time, after her 14 hour's starvation (weims don't do well with the normal 24 hours) I gave her chicken and a little potato. We will be on Poo Watch :heehee: for the next 24 hours, but so far, so good! :fingers crossed:

Sorry to hear that @Sian in Belgium , lots of dogs with allergy & intolerance issues out there now and all those I spoke to have praised raw food. It's what I feed Barney, my border terrier. Most kibbles and wet food have grains/starch in to bulk the food.

www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk is a good website to rate dog brands on their quality. Lots of processed food brands, the equivalent of McDonalds to us with colourants and all sorts :)

@Sian in Belgium ive had a similar problem...tested one of my girls who wouldnt stop chewing paws and always sick. Turns out she is allergic to almost everything including white fish, chicken, rice, potatoes. She is ok with venison and duck though! Lol. Weve put her on Purina HA (hydrolised food) dry mix and forthglade "just duck" and the difference in her has been dramatic. Id definitely recommend giving that a go if you are struggling to find anything suitable.

Bit of a worry earlier. Puppy ...Nico....was caughing, trying to vomit and looking distressed and uncomfortable so off to the vet. Antiobotics, prebiotics, painkillers etc. prescribed but as soon as I got to the vets puppy seemed a whole lot better. Anyway, a hefty bill but Nico seems ok now.:)

After a misty morning the sun is now out, the sky is blue ((feel a song coming on:snorky:) and the heat is back again

Will divide large canna Tropicana Black and plant out into different parts of the garden :). One will be planted alongside miscanthus variegatus :)

@Verdun glad to hear Nico is feeling better. Did he eat something he shouldn't have from the garden maybe?

@Sian in Belgium also glad to hear your doggy is recovering.

Dug out remains of a dead Callicarpa, planted two species Buddleja and a Viburnum, moved a small Mahonia to less windy spot.

Had a full day in the garden today. Split a load of plants and replanted elsewhere. Moved a load of my plants from one end of a border to fill out another end and clear the way for the builders to get in the garden easily with their machinery. Also pruned a few shrubs back.

Was also destroying rat runs! Literally had rats running between the fence panels and into my neighbours garden. They had dug in an adjoining bed which is nice soil....when I started digging it over it was virtually hollow underneath from all the rat runs they have dug!! We've had humane traps down and caught the babies and released them a few miles away on a golf course. Just trying to capture the adults but they are too clever to go in the traps.

Just got to go out and tidy up the mess now.
