I've had a busy day with wage earning but ďid manage to make sure everyone had their libations. We are expecting a frosty night so I dropped the covers on the cold frames.

Other than that I just talked to my green friends and assured them I shall be a good custodian. :)

I did a lot of digging/weeding yesterday as there is a solid mat of grass, dandelions, thistles, buttercups, chick weed and dock

It's not a job I usually do as Michael, who helps in the garden, usually does it - but he seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth! :dunno:

I've almost filled two wheelie bins with the weeds and shall continue today.

Wednesday did a lot of weeding, had a lot of kleevers to pull up. Yesterday made some room for 2
            blackberry plants and planted them.

Today my back is starting to complain, so have to take it easy.

Yes thanks, I've got a few other things I've got to do today, no gardening.
I did take breaks, perhaps I shouldn't have done 2 days in a row.

I'm moving plants from my indoor growing areas, out into the greenhouse. Then in a couple of days I'll plant them in the raised beds. We're predicted for only two more days of lows below 40f and then we're off and running!

I've also got to fertilize the lawn so that it will have time to be pretty much absorbed before I sow new grass seed in the bare areas.

When sun came out, mid afternoon, I thinned out carrots...first thinning....and weeded between beetroot and spring onions. Always good to see rows of veg growing away at this time. :)

Wet morning but finished painting another room.

Today got a replacement pair of shoes (a year old but falling apart; retailer said no, I said not fit for purpose, he said manufacturer's responsibility, I said no, its his)

The rain and sun has made for lots of lush growth :)

Yesterday I got out the pole hedge cutters and shaped a 10ft high Euonymous that has a 6ft diameter. I reduced it to 8ft with a 5ft diameter. That's an arm aching job I haven't done for years because I normally leave it to Michael. I then shaped some big shrubs and left Mrs Shiney to do all the bending work of picking up the cuttings :heehee:

We've done more potting up and weeding and I also went round with the loppers cutting back tree branches that are either in the way or dead and then went on to cutting out dead branches on some of the big shrubs.

                            Things are gradually looking tidier.

Nothing for it @shiney, if Michael doesn't appear before your open day then issue all the GC members who are coming with appropriate gardening tools and instructions of what is needing doing upon their arrival. You can "pay" them with a good slab of cake and a cuppa :). I think this is a very good idea especially as unfortunately I'm away on holiday while your open weekend is on:heehee:.

@silu A good idea - but don't let anyone know ;) as we don't want to put any of them off.

Mrs Shiney came up with the same idea yesterday so she's got all the tools ready

We've just received an email from a friend of Mrs Shiney with the phone number of her gardener so we shall give him a ring. :blue thumb:
