        A busy two days.

The patio needed jet-washing. It doesn't look to bad here. But there's a year's discolouration.

        P1010499.JPG

I tried "Wet n' forget." But I've forgotten it already, all it did was restore some of the color to the grout, the York stone was unaffected. No way did it get rid of any of the black marks. So I jet-washed it yesterday afternoon.

Today I tackled the repointing. I had to drive over to Reddish to get the yellow cement dye, plus a bag of cement I just had enough sand in the garage.

Job done. I guess at the moment it doesn't look a lot different. The pots have to be returned to "their correct positions."

It needs a brush. I use barely wet mortar, but that can wait until tomorrow afternoon after golf, when it will all have gone off. Then it'll just be a case of washing down all the woodwork.

Today I mowed the lawn for the first time since I had my heart attack 4 years ago. I wanted to get the job done before the grandchildren came round for tea. After a lot of huffing and puffing, I got the job done. They've spent the entire evening in front of the tv.

                  Nothing changes.

When the kids were small my wife didn't like them being around fireworks.
There weren't big displays shown on the TV in the early seventies.

I'd bought a lot of fireworks and set them all up on the patio. The kids were allowed to stand behind the windows of the patio doors to watch them.
I started setting them off. I turned round after five minute and the kids were gone. When I looked through the patio doors, they were all sitting on the floor watching the TV.

Sorry. It's not the best time of day to be taking photos. I recently had one of those epiphical (is that a word? :noidea:) moments. The roots of the tree make it very difficult to grow anything immediately in front of Kitty's summer house. It occurred to me that instead of growing upwards, I could hang baskets and grow downwards. The effect would be the same. There would still be the opportunity to grow bulbs from the ground as required.

                    :snorky:

Over past couple of days I've been to two GC's looking for floating plants for the pond.. No floating plants, so will have to buy online. But I now have three Cranesbill ( including Pink Spice, which is so unusual and pretty I had to have it :snorky: ), three Ferns, two Gaillardia, one Coreopsis and one greater Knapweed.

Spent yesterday afternoon planting ferns with the others under the willow tree, planted the Gaillardia and the Coreopsis with some of the grasses by the pond and the pink spice also by the pond. Strimmed grass around septic tank, got very long and covering inspection hatch. Painted more patio wall, could have finished the job but started raining. Cut back part of the willow that was overhanging the wall. I actually like the overhanging effect but want to try and grow something along the wall. Made a very half hearted attempt at pulling out couch grass from large mound by the pond. I need to remove all the bark chippings to do the job properly, so will wait until autumn I think. Wandered around the front garden looking at all the mess and chaos :wallbanging:. I think the Blackbirds and Robins are nesting amongst some of it, so I guess that's a good enough reason to leave it alone for the time being. Still no signs of life on the new beech hedging I planted

Returning from Bangor yesterday morning I met one of the Hares out on the lane. He/she was hopping along just outside my house. I left the gates open when I went out, wonder if he/she had come from my garden :)
