I did think it may help also, but it's that annoying type of fence with massive gaps between each strip and you need to get the brush in to do all the edges. So annoying. I might paint the bits inbetween with a brush first and then hopefully, quickly run the roller up and down them.

Ah you've just reminded me to order mine online too. A lot of stockists don't sell the floating ones til Mid-End of May apparently. What are you after? I like the floating water hyacinths (the only one my koi don't destroy).

 

Had two mega migraines last night - one at 8pm when I was closing up the greenhouse and again at 1:50 :( This has meant I couldn't bend down from head pain so have waited til the afternoon to do anything in the garden. Head is still pounding but battled on through as I was so bored of sitting in the house. I planted up my tomatoes into growbags. Also bought three of those grow bag halo thingies to try out.

Also bought a new terracotta pot and planted in my special rose purchase"Talbot House Rose" from Belgium. London cultivates special rose for Talbot House centenary | Flanders Today
Wasn't sure where to plant it in the garden yet - going to wait until the building work is finished.

 

I always paint with a brush. It's better for getting in all the little nooks and crannies..

On Saturday my plan was to stain the decking around the main gravel on the back...moved all the gravel from the edges so it could be stained inside as well ...used my new garden chair and it helped quite a bit but when I came to by the decking something bit me below the eye and the outcome was a swollen right eye, which never went till late monday...I looked like i'd done a round in the ring but still achieved my goal

The decking wasn't going to be done but it was ... it's took several days by myself staining the hand rails and spindle bases besides the decking in side on the edges before my hubby did the main part but we're pleased with the outcome but not a bad back

I have done masses of painting lately and all with a brush, albeit a large one. Just as quick as with a roller

Verdun my backs done in..even using that garden chair your still bending so I've been resting up mate.

@Snorky85 I was thinking of something like Water Soldiers as it's a native plant. I had Hyacinths in a pond down south but they didn't seem to do particularly well, turned brown around edges and shrivelled up. I think it may have been down to water quality maybe . Is there nothing you can do about your migraines, as in treatments?

 

Yesterday was a little manic (well, for me!). Lots of little dog-walks, a bible study in the morning, going out for lunch with hubby, a prayer meeting in the evening, phonecall to mum, explaining -again - what is happening in her life... but I did also manage to get some gardening done!
I cleared the pond of bits of stuff that was floating around (mainly debris and algae clumps), and enjoyed watching the two different species of damselflies buzzing around. A little weeding the top bed next to the road, and the pink bed above the garage. Wound in the clematis and wild hop in-and-out of the wooden panel fence, by the road. Took the weeds down to the compost, and did a little more compost-turning. I finished planting out the bedding plants in the extended patio bed, and potted on about 30 chilli plants, in preparation for a plant sale on Sunday morning.

What an impatient plonker I am.......no sign of persicaria polymorpha so I decided to dig it out only to find lots of shoots just below the soil surface ....I am so angry with myself. Had I waited a couple of days I would have seen it growing!! Anyway replanted part and potted on another but it isnt going to be as impressive this year!

Prob stake more dahlias later. Will have to net blueberries too. No doubt will see other jobs to do. Tomatoes were planted out in the gh yesterday and a couple potted on for nephew. Some strawberry containers moved into gh to produce earlier fruit.

Gail, yes painting is finished...for now anyway.

As verdun says...looks like the sunn is going to burn away the cloud. Hoping for a nice day.

Going for a run/brisk walk with my two lovely neighbours then back to get on with the garden.

One of my lovely neighbours has said I can use her allotment plot - she isn't using it this year (for various reasons) and so I'm going to clear it and plant more of my cut flower seedlings. yay! my lotty is full!

 

Funnily enough went to see my Neurologist last week and basically no - nothing, except just trying to manage the pain etc. The new drug that has been developed is with NICE for testing and reviewing prescribing criteria before they agree/disagree to fund it on the NHS. All migraine drugs are really really expensive and they set ridiculous criteria (e.g. botox- something like 15 migraines a month). So he expects this to be the same. HUMPH

Also - going to look up those Water Soldiers and see what they are like. Had great success with the water hycinths - they multiplied so quickly. But also died really quickly when the summer ended.

 

Planting this week , baskets are in the greenhouse. Everything else is being hardened off . Luckily I put fleece over everything last night - it went down to 2°c.
Time to get my knee pads on and start planting out today
Years ago I swore I would never paint another fence panel , mind numbing monotonous work . I use an electric spray gun for fence panels. Or actually my family use it more than I do !

 

is that any cleaner than using those cuprinol sprayers? We used one at our old house (much less fence to spray) and it made a right mess!
