WHAT JOBS ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY 2018

Well I see what you mean by pillar box red but I do like terracotta as it carries a warm look...so it's either a mix or your head job

 

We got the same Shiney but i don't think there were Indian sand stone, but there are nice when clean and wet, the water makes the patterns stand out more

 

Potted up my butterworts.



Started digging out to make a new retaining wall.
Comes to light a past home owner buried lots of paving stones in the raised bed.
That's why it was raised. Makes sense now.

 

Shiney I see what you mean and like you say if you can drop on them...you had quite a nice variety there to play with and for adding the pic's for me and members to see as it truly looks ....our slabs when brought wasn't on offer, so they cost a fair bit but the slabs under our front window we dropped on with those, as my hubbies sister was having a new patio and she had 50 pink slabs going free and she offered them us...they clean up lovely every year

Garden Tour May 2018

Then went round both front and back garden, removing all the bluebell foliage as they were past their best. I like to clear it before it goes slimy. It's an "on hands and knees job." There's so many bluebells I filled the green bin with it.

Particularly necessary on this bed.



It gives the dahlias a chance.

I'd jet-washed the patios and paths on Monday and re-pointed where necessary on Tuesday.




I'm up to date now, just a bit of clematis tying up and lily beetle hunting.

Though I might give the shed another coat of paint tomorrow.

 

Very powerful creatures. Interesting watching them in natural history series with David Attenborough. Not only their stature but also the skills that they employ wnen ganging up on their victims. I refer to the scene of the water buffalo that was eventually eaten.

How nice to see a well kept Wisteria. It's so sad when they are let go, and there becomes an inbalance of foliage and flowers. Laburnum can also be trained in much the same way. The largest, massive Wisteria I have seen is against the wall of an office in Lymington High St. New Forest. Thanks for sharing DHR.

 

We bought that in Wyevale about three years ago. there wasn't a lot of choice. I 'sppose I could have made my own, it'd have been much easier than the concrete lamps and pagoda I made, But I don't get the time these days now that I'm retired. It's still a bit "in your face" but hopefully it'll tone down eventually.

 

Went to work today but still managed to finish my retaining wall around my raised bed.

 

Did a lot of watering and pulled up some of the wallflowers that have finished flowering.
