Right i'm with you mate and what a weight Martin...as I knew I hadn't seen that before, I most likely haven't seen how big in general your garden is but I love it when you come up with a new area

 

Its only a small garden Gail ive broke it up into little parts it adds interest and makes the garden look bigger than what it is, have a look at the first two pages of my work in progress thread the link is in my signature above the fox.

 

Pedantic is fine Shiney.......however, always a psychological downer when the longest day has passed. Shorter day light hours for example.

But.....another hot day to come. The beach was glorious earlier. Plenty of garden progs on tv (mostly not seen but recorded) and garden is about to erupt into early summer colour

 

I wish I had time to go to the beach . Haven't been on it for a couple of weeks, too busy battling with garden and running around doing things I don't want to be doing. Beautiful day here again, but breezier.

 

Busy here too lucius but a visit to the beach in early morning esp when sun is shining is irresistable . Take time out and walk on the sand...chill out; you will cope much better then with life's less appealing chores!

Preparing my lunch.....home cooked bread, my own lettuce, my own baby carrots and (tiny) spring onions and my own ham. Ok, I got carried away, not my own ham!

Not been out in the garden at all today..been doing things in the home besides cleaning Blaze's tank out

 

Didn't do a lot today after shovelling the sh... yesterday - my body is aching!

Filled up a couple of water barrels and added loads of chopped up nettles to make a free fertilizer for us all on the allotment.

Also picked 3kg of Rhubarb and making some more Rhubarb & Rhubarb/Ginger Gin. And made a batch of Rhubarb cordial.

Tomorrow I need to dig in all of the manure. Hoping it rains a little over night as all my 4 water butts are empty! Need to plant out the last of my cosmos too.

 

Installed a garden light today.

It been another lovely day, bit chilly this morning.

Popped to the GC when I finished work on the bike, wanted a fuchsia coral but sold out there as well so got a different fuchsia instead. Got a chempak high potassium feed instead of tomorite what I usually buy, I should get a lot more feed out of the chempak than 6 and half 1litre bottle of tomorite, hopefully its better as well, I get back with results later on in the year.

I said I'll take some cutting from my dahlia's for somebody so took a few which were suitable. Emptied pots from failed or poor germination and give the big propagator a shower and packed up, took the wall paper table down as well upstairs, think I'll plant the tomatoes tomorrow Think I'll start my foxgloves - wallflowers a bit earlier this year, they never get big enough to flower on time.

 

You're absolutely right Verdun. There's nothing quite like the sound of the sea .

Lunch sounds excellent. Leave the ham off for me as I'm vegetarian


Yes, I did see the picture. It looks lovely but didn't appear particularly blue.

 

No not too blue I guess lucius it is almost exactly the same as festuca Intense Blue but bigger. The elymus magellanicus is the real blue ....I'll post a picture

 

Nothing too arduous today.

Gave my koi a dose of formaldehyde & formalin, (whether they liked it or not). It's just a preventative measure. Ordered some flukasol, but don't need it as yet, as none are flicking, may not need it at all so far this year, nor last, it's a sign of fluke infection. I just like to be prepared.

Sorted out the plastic pot movers. We've a dozen or so under the big pots for the roses on the patio. I drilled a hole in each of the pot mover bases a few years ago, so that in winter there isn't a build up of water in them. But for the summer I put a dab of silicone over the hole. This means that if I choose to, I can put some water in the bases to supplement the water they get from the watering can. In really hot weather these pots can get very dry due to direct and reflected sunshine off the stone patio.

Gave everything that needed a spray some attention and killed a lily beetle.

Will give the lawn a mow tomorrow, as it's going to rain on Friday.
