I do think it's a good idea though mate ...sorry to hear you've got your friends lurking again you'll soon sort them if they become to active but your sunflowers

 

Dead-headed the big rhodo in the front garden. The smaller one with maybe a couple of hundred small blooms, won't get done, there's too many.
Pruned back one of the viburnums as it was "bullying" one of our acers.

I did the same with the quince in the back garden where it was "bullying" another acer.
Both rhodos and acers come off worst when there's competition for space with viburnum and quince.

Pity the Mice and Rats here haven't developed a taste for them . I only started feeding them as read Goldfinch love them and for the past 3-4 years we get Goldies in Spring for few days and then they leave. This year I put out the nyger and there were 18 Goldies at one sitting, although they didn't hang around for more than a couple of weeks. Still got one pair visiting daily. It's quite common for birds to be wary of trying new foods. Rats are the same. Once one has had a taste and not suffered any ill effects the others join in. Have you tried mixing the nyger with the birds favourite foods

Wish I was as handy as you with a bit of wood and a few screws

 

Hello Lucius I quite agree with you on this comment as it's happened here when I used to feed the birds...pigeons don't bother as they're greedy but the black birds, starlings and ring doves are like that...let another fool try it out first

 

Lots of digging, I'm creating a new bed, and lots of planting

Toms, cucs, peppers, hot and sweet all potted on, also physalis. Just potted on 3, they can get quite big by my research so I'm wondering do I pot up the other 3 or compost them
By the time my beloved chillies are growing,along with the peppers, cucs and toms...... I'll be lucky to get in to water......

 

Hi Luci, they do eat them but 9/10 will go for the hearts, the main reason i built it was because of rats, whatever i tried failed to stop them coming but this has .

 

Very misty, very warm and rain is not far away. Wont be gardening today ....most things are planted and any rain will be good

Just back from a walk in the rain in the woods with white golden retriever puppy. All fluffy and cute but soon covered in mud . So a bath that he doesnt like at all, dirt splashed everywhere in the bathroom ...not forgetting me! Next time it will be the shower...him and me! Anyway, all fun

 

I potted on one of my Puya on Monday and I've been picking the barbs (from the leaves) out of my fingers since

 

I managed to have a little play in the garden today. It was the first time in a while. I have potted up the hanging baskets on the shed with trailing fuscias.

I also cut my geum Mrs Bradshaw in half. The 2 halves have both been re potted and put back in the ground for safe keeping. This time next year I should be able to do the same again. That will give me plenty of plants to spread about when the time comes. Not bad for £3.99.

I have a Broadway Lights I intend to split at some point.

Weeds are starting to become a problem. I'm going to have to forget everything else for the time being and get stuck into weeding.

Gary it sounds like you've been very busy mate and weeding is a nightmare besides back breaking

Martin it wouldn't take them long to shoot or your centre ones with the rain we're having mate...looks nicer with the more plants you've added
