Just a dribble here. I’m relaxing and have been emailing a few customers who asked for info on various stuff.
Would love it to rain, temps due to hit 26 this week and unless we have a good spell of wet weather I’ve a feeling I may be cutting back on the lawn cuts. Might be able to make time for a spot of river fishing off my boat.

Sounds idyllic Liz the pot :). Boat on the river in summer......wonderful :)

We needed the rain here too......although quite light, if it continues for most of the day it will be perfect:)

The dry spell has been a nightmare on some lawn and my better half’s lawn was looking real sad. The 2 dogs killed some areas of lawn with pee but it’s looking better now.
Ive been trying out Miracle Gro lawn feed and using their spray applicator. Nothing fancy and no idea of the rate of application but wanted to give it a go so my other half could apply it without me worrying.
So far it’s been fine. Ive also got her a little push cylinder mower in the hope she can cut it in between my cuts. That’s not working out that well :) but the lawn looks good considering the weather.

It is looking well @Liz the pot, much better than mine. Lawn weedkiller damaged the grass with it being dry, along with certain types of grass not able to adapt to it being dry. I been trying to improve the lawn for years when I should of just started again, I might just do that later on this season with a dwarf rye grass mix and a few fescues maybe.

I think sometimes we mess too much with our lawns, the grass verge in from of my house i mow it as the council only come when its 2ft tall, no feed no water and it looks great, my lawns looking a right old mess after removing thatch,

My lawn looked at its best with a few weeds and moss in it, i am going to stop messing with it .

I think that's looking very good, anyone who can keep a lawn looking well when there are dogs around usually has an impossible job.

Last year ours had the attention of the six fox cubs that lived under our tea-house for three months, it took several weeks to recover once they'd left home.

No such problems this year apart from one small are where some neighbour's cat or an adult fox has peed on it.

I give the lawn a weak dose of iron sulphate each week and cut it twice. I use a Flymo like a scythe, don't do stripes.

I've watered the greenhouse and tied the tomatoes and cucumbers in, wow those cucumbers can put on growth when your back is turned :snorky:
I've been planting out some more cosmos and ammi majus, I'm trying to hang on to the last of my annuals to plug the huge gaps I fear I'm going to have due to my tithonia not living up to expectations :frown:

Being nosy, as I've got 2 ticks, are your tithonia rubbish? Or where you ticking greenhouse stuff/watering?
Is it just mine that are really disappointing?

My tithonia look disappointing, first year growing them though but were expecting more. I Planted two in with dahlia david howard this afternoon, wait and see what happens :noidea:

Went to the garden centre this morning looks for plants on my list, saw salvia black and blue in the reduced section  picked it up dead as a door nail :gaah: had other plants on my list but didn't find any. I did pick some begonia non stop for somebody else which is usually the case when I go to the GC. I always seem to have to order online when I won't a plant.

Manged to get the majority of my dahlias in their pots before the rain set in, feed and watered tomatoes / daffs for next year agapanthus etc.

Give the grape vine another prune, turn your back on it and its grows like mad, feel guilty chopping off all that healthy growth but I won't be able to get in the GH otherwise, and it will shade out the grapes ripening.

Potted on some lychnis chalcedonica and some night scented phlox.

Checked on dahlia cuttings I've took for someone else, half of the leaves had been munched, a caterpillar had manged to commander my propagator, were going to feed it to the sparrows but chucked it in some Johnson blue geraniums and told it to eat them instead. Got the bigger propagator out while I was at it, sow some more night stocks and canery creeper.
