Verdun i'm not surprised he's adorable but don't let them stroke his ears...as his muscles need to strengthen to take shape nicely ;)

We've got one of these sprinklers we used to use on the lawn I really should connect it at tea time to do the plants more good.

Cleaned the pond pump today i noticed the waterfall slowing down a little, removed a small amount of sludge from the bottom there was lots of little critters among it i put it in a pond plant so they could crawl out,

The pond took a few hours to clear but this evening it was back to normal clear as a bell.

Martin, does your pump sit on the bottom of your pond?

If it does, it'll pick up less detritus if you sit it on a couple of bricks.

Cut the paths through the long grass out front. Fed the Hydrangeas with liquid seaweed. Watered the baths and sinks. Planted a Coreopsis Snowberry in a patio pot. I have several large plastic pots on my patio crammed full of different things as nowhere else to put them yet. They look a bit odd, no rhyme or reason to the the planting, but it's only a temporary measure so it doesn't matter too much. Topped up the pond. Sat with a coffee on the bench out front watching the Moo Mooes in the field opposite and watching the birds. They appear to like the long grass idea amongst the trees :).

This Hydrangea is only just shorter than me and I'm 5ft 10 ins.

That`s interesting! I have made a pre filter for my pond pump. The main reason was that I kept finding tiny fish and other creatures were being sucked into the pump - not a good way to go.
This system works well. When I first installed it the water cleared within 5 days, and when it needs cleaning I can tell as the waterfall slows considerably.
If it gets left too long before it`s cleaned the pump floats up to the surface and struggles, which is a pain when it`s just getting dark, pouring with rain and my favourite program has just started on the tele... but out I go with my torch, haul the blessed thing out, blast it with the hose, and stick it all back on again.
If someone can tell me of an easier system, it might just save what is left of my sanity.

Hi DH i sit it on bricks i get a small amount of blanket weed and after a month or so it sticks to the pump and slows it down,

I use my waterfall as a filter in a certain way i have different size gravel in each one,

I need to do something similar to you Tetters i recently put some frogspawn in and the same thing happened :frown:.

I never looked at the price £8 :yikes: it best be good for that money, its very strange stuff all the soil fluffs up to protect the seeds.

Thank you Tetters if i cant come up with a easier method i will make something similar, some aluminum micro mesh would be ideal i could use self tappers to fix it over the vent i will see what i can find,

@Doghouse Riley as you can see its just a little algae.

Tried it, found it was really not worth the money. Now it's grass seed and dirt for me.

But maybe because I don't have your weather, I failed.

Besst of luck and let us know how it worked out :)

To be honest Lori i don't know why i didn't go to the garden center and buy a roll of turf and just patched it with that, job would have been done now for £3.
