Thanks @shiney , I think I'll get all mine out and sow my mixed packet instead. I'll probably save the Chalcedonica till next year as I'm not in a rush for them having already got a biggish clump.

          ...if it helps...

I've grown lychnis coronaria for years. Always cerise colour. One of the people I did gardening for wanted a cerise flower to contrast in her mainly white bed. So I sold her one of my coronarias.... which flowered white! I offered to swap it out, but was obviously too quick, she decided to keep it. In 20+ years, spreading this plant in Hereford, High Wycombe, Brussels, Tervuren and now Rhode, this is is the only plant I've known to flower white!

Apparently, the white is a natural (but in my experience, very rare!) sport.

I want to plant some Aquilegia for next year and understand the germination period is around 90 days. During that time we are away, will it cause a problem if they are not watered for a week? Alternatively, any ideas on how I get around it? And I'll get in there before anybody else does NO, they are not going in the suitcase with me :nonofinger: :heehee:

Hi @kazzawazza , whenever I sow seeds in trays or pots ( as I will be doing Sunday ) I always put them in a plasic bag or with larger trays cover them with a perspex sheet.

I divide L. Coronarias every year to maintain the colours I want :)

Very little gardening but went up to pick blackcurrants at top of the garden this evening, Wot a plonker I am! A huge crop.....of small fruit. I overlooked the watering up there and paying the price now. No point watering now ..it wont make any difference to fruit size.:noidea:
I always water the blackcurrants????

Planted up 32 young lupins. Too late to get flowers this summer? Bought some big pots for the bamboos to go in later, gave the rasps&gooseberries&blueberries a good drink.

Weeded and sprayed part of the local church yard, hopefully get me in the good books for a day or two :love30:

Decided to make a start on trimming back the lilac tree and ribes bush surrounding the boat seat. Began painting the boat but ran out of hammerite, so trip to hardware store needed tomorrow. Whilst I was painting I caught some movement on my peripheral vision but didn't actually see anyone. More rustling about behind the boat and then a newly fledged robin appeared on a branch above me :wub2:. He/she watched me painting till the paint ran out.

Heleniums coming into flower and a pink mallow?? It's a wild flower plug I bought ( plant label is in a cupboard and I'm too tired to go looking for it ). I stood and looked at the boat area for awhile thinking about whether to cut back the grass and make a planting area or leave it as it is.

                                More watering this evening :phew:.
