WHAT JOBS ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY 2018

Picked a lot of fruit this morning, managed to get poked in the eye from an old raspberry cane that i should have cut down. It was dry and hard like a stick. It was on my left side and i bent down to pick some blackcurrants on my right. My eye's alright, just very sore. I'm very accident prone.

 

That reminds me, I've had my first raspberries
3 canes from aldi, I really didn't have much hope
Low and behold...... I must have munched a dozen by now

A job ive been meaning to do for a while build a seating area into the arbour thing i built about twelve months ago.

Yes @Logan I water everywhere...so the birds can dig in easily...but it dont matter they will dust bath too...I'm gonna need a new broom at this rate or borrow the wifes hahahahaha.
Tomorrow I am going to install a trough gutter at the back of the Japanese style pergola over the pond...I am going to plant trailing Petunia and Nasturtiums to cascade down over the woven bamboo backdrop to add a little colour...well thats the plan, hope it works out lol

 

Recently we walked the dog around the local forest park...at the back of the park is a little stream run off boggy area traversed by a small bridge..the surrounding area is alive with small common blue damselfly...I would love to have these around my pond and garden...If I were to introduce some nymphs would they remain season on season (not remain but frequent this small water body)...????

 

Today's afternoon session in the garden was curtailed by the arrival of a baby wild rabbit. There were two, but sadly one died this morning. Both had been attacked by a Stoat. Lady heard screaming in her garden yesterday and witnessed the attack. The surviving baby is around 3 -4 weeks I think and not fully weaned, but difficult to be sure. I'm not overly optimistic as bun has damage to neck from attack and being shaken. It may resolve with anti inflammatory and time - if bun lives that long - or it may not. Scrappy, my wild rat baby had similar damage after a cat attack and he learned to cope with his disability very well in a controlled environment. Time will tell for this little baby bun. I have managed to get some syringe feeds in, which is hopeful, but at the same time there is the risk of gut stasis and bloat due to change of foods.

 

Yes thank you I'm ok. Hubby said that he'll get me a pair of glasses to use.

 

Morning Shiney, morning WO. Looks like everyone else is still in bed

Very hot and humid last night. It will only be watering and picking enough produce for the day

 

Going for breakfast at the local (posh) farm shop...then
Just a few little jobs today...
Roses to transplant into larger (Harrogate) terracotta pots, edge and mow the grass, make a trough planter and plant up (looking forward to this little job) Buy in some loose bird seed, fatballs and mealworms....new quality metal ? bird feeder for fine seeds if I can get one.
Have a look in Lidl for any plant bargains...
Tomorrow I will have a little go at making a small Japanese style freestanding windchime...similar to the image below
