WHAT JOBS ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY 2018

Over slept this morning, half an hour late. The alarm went off, but went back to sleep.
@BigC the wind chimes are going to look great. One question, don't they have to be hanging higher up.

 

Weeded the greenhouse.
Tidied up some log roll I removed.
Watered some plants.
Put the washing out and rescued some leaf cutter bee larvae.

Off for coffee with a mate now.

 

Not sure atm @Logan you know me by now...as always the plan is never on paper with me it just flows as we go hahahaha
Gardening update....Grass cut, edged and strimmed...New bird feeders bought >£3 ea from B&Q pre filled with seed..bargain I thought...so I got myself 2...Time now to relax before we play the second half...there's a match to be won.

I think this a bad idea for a number of reasons...
- Pretty sure it's illegal.
- the potential damage to the wide habitat, as you try to gather the nymph.
- basic question, how are you actually going to get the nymph?!
- how are you going to be sure that you get the nymph you want, and nothing but the nymph?
- the water quality between the two different bodies of water is bound to be very different, and potentially lethal to any wildlife you want to introduce.
- there may not be the correct food source for any nymph you do manage to place in your pond, so they will starve.
- why do it? If the wild area is relatively nearby, they will find your pond anyway, given time, and colonise it. Any eggs laid in your water will naturally acclimatise as they develop, and therefore be able to survive and thrive.

 

I have access through the fish I breed to a Biological Supply company that offers Nymphs for sale and I am well aware of environmental issues and water chemistry I also breed and culture a lot of my own livefoods so this is not an ill thought out project there are may years of breeding fish and international contact experience to be drawn upon...my only concern would be would they stay with the body of water supplied given that conditions were correct (all that you have mentioned...These Damsels are endemic to the UK and not imported or foreign sp.

 

Went out for bags of compost, walking with my youngest in her pushchair. Managed to fit 5 small bags in the basket underneath and bought a few small plants whilst I was there. We were out maybe an hour and a half. Am just about recovering from the heat now! Wow that sun is powerful today!

 

I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were talking of trying to get the nymphs from the boggy area, i.e. From the wild.
I stand corrected.

I have just defied the ban day #8
Fed the grass with soluble feed and sat out way past midnight with a glass of red in hand...it was warm, still had my shorts on...planning and surveying the land...what to do next, what holes need filling, what needs moving or discarded..these are the most special times to me..peace and quiet, contemplating what to do next.quiet moments of thought..experiencing flora and fauna that surrounds me with alcoholic sensitivity this is the time I'm at my most creative...spiders advancing onto their finely spun webs awaiting their prey..moths in abundance and bats sonically passing overhead..Its a whole new "twilight world" that needs to be experienced...The garden by day is what it is but the peacefulness in the wee small hours is something to be savored too..This is BigC under the influence and still fully appreciative of his surroundings...contemplating lol...time for bed...Tomorrow is another day...

 

I just finished the plastic gutter planter over the pergola and planted it up, hoping for a cascade of Petunia and Nasturtiums. I dont know if its all going to work but I've given it a go anyway's

 

@BigC yes night is a nice time to relax and think about what to do next.

The pergola looks alright and they should grow down.

 

That looks lovely BigC, I would love a pergola or arch again, trying to persuade my husb but he has enough on with the deck, it's surround and then the pond. Your photos are inspiring though. I love sitting back in the garden in threvening with a drink but the mozzies drive me back in too early. Ive complete gardening jobs until 10.30 at night but then I am in 'the flow' of things and dont notice them so much.

 

Look well @BigC , they grow down when they get going. Keep an eye on watering them with them being in a shallow planter they dry out fast.
