Busy wee morning in the garden this morning, planting up herbs into their final homes, and potting on the leeks we got the other day.

          The planters are filling up:
          20180714_132718.jpg
Mint on the left, in its own tub, so it can go as mental as it likes; Front tub contains purple sage, rosemary and oregano; behind are swede seedlings (3 to a tub)

          20180714_132506.jpg

Horseradish - again, in its own tub so it can go as mental as it chooses; I won't be eating this!!

          20180714_132522.jpg

          The swede seedlings:

          20180714_132454.jpg

On the left, rubbishy supermarket chives at the back, with high quality Gardeners Corner member grown garlic chives at the front; on the right is 'Lemon Central' - lemon verbena and lemongrass (oh, and my feet at the bottom :snorky: :

          20180714_132514.jpg
Then it is on to the 'Hot Tub' - one expertly Gardeners Corner member grown Tabasco chilli, and a bit of a story...........

In the garden centre the other day, they had chilli plants cheap, so we whacked a couple into the basket; one was a black chilli, which has the dark leaves in the photo; the other, is a Habanero, which I somehow got it into my head was a Jalapeno - so, I now have a plant that is going to produce little nuclear bombs somewhere between 350,000 and 400,000 scoville! :thud:
I thought the black chilli was going to be interesting at 50,000 scoville.

Note to self - read labels before putting plants in your basket!

          20180714_132615.jpg

Then on to our other herb planter, which contains rubbishy supermarket coriander, with expertly grown Gardeners Corner member coriander in front (do you detect a pattern here?), purple basil - again supermarket rubbish, so it will probably die, expertly grown Gardeners Corner member thyme, rubbishy supermarket curly leaf parsley with expertly grown Gardeners Corner member flat leaf parsley (surely you can see the pattern now??)

HUGE thanks to @JWK for being so kind in giving a lot of the plants shown above, and for his ongoing friendship and advice.
Then we moved the leeks on - we separated some into individual plants to make them easier to move on into their tubs when they are a bit bigger (thanks @NigelJ for the advice), and others were left in clumps to be used as baby leeks (thanks @Scrungee for the idea)

Against normal protocol, given the sun, everything was given a good drink to hopefully help it all settle in.

Not done much so far today, apart from cut "our" side of the hedge between us and our elderly neighbours... Too hot to do anything else!

Watering the lawn right now after applying a granular feed. It still looks pretty good. Our reservoirs are still at healthy levels and no hose pipe bans. Rain is in the forecast after another hot day forecast for tomorrow....it is supposed to be even hotter then . (Boy! Do I like using these :SUNsmile: ). If the dry weather continues I may have to accept a browning lawn:sad:. Yes, it will recover but a nice green lawn is the perfect recreational space as well as a good looking space!

Cannas are now flowering.....always spectacular :)

I am scheduled to dig out a load of soil at my niece's next week.....feeling fit for it but cooler weather will be appreciated:)

Fitting the Orbit controller and Hozelock irrigation system at the caravan garden today . The forecast now is for heavy rain tomorrow after several weeks of drought !

                        Drug testing for plants....
I purchased a pack of Suttons Salad Leaf seeds (for the troughs in the Greenhouse 2nd crop) it says ready to harvest in 21 days "aye right" I said to myself....Two days in and jeepers they have germinated already...these must be on steroids or summat....

Equally we are on the second harvest of Tomatoes this season, I am definitely going to be growing Aisla Craig again next year all being well..they are a great cropper with lovely taste.

Looking good @BigC glad that you're having some rain. When it comes over here it would have fizzled out..
Rooted some blackcurrant cuttings in water, didn't know that it would work. Have to pot them on before the roots get too long.
Got 170 wallflower seedlings come up.

Thanks @BigC I have to keep taking them out of the greenhouse and into the garage because of this hot weather. For next spring, i'll plant them in their final position in September, but pot them on first when they're bit bigger.

Just potted up the blackcurrant cuttings.

Don't know what I'm going to do with them, but have to see. Wanted to grow more so i can make jam out of them.

Now that we have had lunch we are staying indoors as the sun has now gone round to the back garden and is far too hot to do anything else so I expect I shall force my eyes to watch the men’s Wimbledon final at 2pm:snorky:

PS,We also walked across the fields of gold across to the next village before 8am this morning and it was hot then and we clocked up 4 1/2miles for the round trip:biggrin:
