A beautiful morning . A tad cooler, fresher but feeling warm. Perfect for getting a few more wallflowers in spare space in veg patch. A few stocks too for growing on will be planted out :)
Will deadhead heleniums too....they have been so prolific with plenty of buds to open

Hey Woo, I think lots of us have lost plants in the last twelve months - some to the almighty cold winter blast, and some have been roasted to death ....all part of the fun of gardening I suppose... I have had to dump a load of euonymus because of scale as well, but I reckon if we get a few extra cuttings in there will be some more good bits to plant - and some handy spaces to plant them in. :) It`s surprising sometimes what will re grow after the rain - just like magic, so keep positive.......and I will tell you a little story ........

......... Once upon a time (are you sitting comfortably?) when I was in charge of the propagation section at work ..... in the olden days, the boss showed me three huge and impressive new Hebes he had bought in for 'stock plants' He said '' you can slaughter these '' which roughly translated meant 'please obtain as much viable material as you can from these plants as they are likely to be in high demand because of their popularity with nurseries around the country and we will need to get a high yield in order to fill the demand and make a considerably large amount of profit so that your wages can be met'
I happened to be in my stupid humour haze on that particular day, and keen to make a mark - and possibly a comment I took my trusty Felco no 6 secateurs, and chopped all three plants right off at the ankles, leaving a small stub (about 1 inch high) in each 5 litre pot.
By the end of the day we had a few thousand cuttings, which I arranged in the tunnels under the misting system - then went home.
For the next few days I awaited '' the comment '' regarding the three little stubs, but those comments didn`t come - it was just like waiting for a train at the railway station in 2018 !
Finally, when walking through the same tunnel I asked what he thought of my little operation - and all he would say was '' Well, I was a bit surprised ''
The moral of the story was that in spite of the severe treatment, those Hebes each regrew into huge healthy plants - just like they were originally.
