My tools need sharpening. There are a lot of jobs I could do if my tools were sharp.

I could probably do a bit better if my brain was a bit sharper !
Very often, all you need to do with cutting tools is give them a good going over with wet & dry sandpaper and a drop of soapy water. This has kept my trusty Felco 6 secateurs going for about 25 years without actually sharpening them :) - my boss at the nursery used to do his secateurs with wet & dry & spit!

There was grinder here once. It was my dad's. I'm not sure what happened to it. They are a lot cheaper than I thought they would be. Argos do one for £19.99. Maybe I'll get lucky and find one in a Bank Holiday Sale somewhere.

Well we've had it windy here for several days and the leaves that have come down is totally sick :dunno:….went out today swept the yard, done the bird baths, then got all the leaves up and after that took a break and good earned :coffee:...then went and trimmed dead heads off my rose tree and removed and dead flowers from my plants but I did notice my Virginia Creeper as flower heads for the first time, now that will be nice to see :)

A beautiful day......not too hot but pleasantly very warm :)

Dead headed dahlias and heleniums, picked runner beans, carrots, spring onions, beetroot, lettuce and radishes.
                    Hymenocallis flowering again :)

Looks like I have lawn repairs to do at my niece's......puppy decided to dig a few holes there! His guilty face and dirty paws were a giveaway before the damage was done! It's ok, he said sorry:snorky:

Changes are already afoot. I've decided to go only for plants that deserve their place in my garden so I'm shifting and getting rid. Life's too short to have boring plants:sad:

Rain stopped play but I did plant two salvias in the ground that had outgrown the large trough they were in. I'm not impressed with the flowers or smell so I've put them to the back of the border. I won't bother taking cuttings so if they don't make the winter I won't be too bothered.

I moved a phormium that was dwarfed by a large clump of coreopis. Too tall and too yellow and bought in a moment of weakness. They are next to be moved - to the compost heap or on the bank at the bottom of the garden. They are only just beginning to flower so will probably be while before the deed is done.

Sounds good to me alana......only plants I really like and earn their place here too :). You can divide phormiums.....they then produce the best coloured foliage on smaller plants. Divide mine every 3 years or so.
