Mrs Shiney did a lot of cutting back and pruning as the perennials and shrubs have gone mad. I was out all afternoon. :noidea:

Mowed the lawn....again, thats 3 times in 8 days . The stuff has gone into some mad turbo charged growth phase.

Catching up on the slow summer i guess. Its feeding the hot compost pile thats going great guns this year. Grass, cardboard and straw atm.

My runner beans have only just started cropping, even though they have been at the top of the wigwam for months. Reckon it's been too hot! We hope to get a few meals off them before they go to the compost....

Just venturing out to clear up after storm Ali. Sunflowers snapped, pots knocked about, leaves everywhere.
Nextdoors 40year old willow got snapped in half.
On the brightside this means more sunlight into our garden now..:)

Potted on my new plants delivered today. That's about it in the garden.

Well, a brief shower but a very warm day.....not too breezy either. Very pleasant :).

Cut down a buddleia davidii to start the autumn tidying process

Keep safe those guys experiencing the storm:)

                Came home to this :gaah:

                storm.jpg

All my baby plants on patio table were untouched. Phew!

Neighbour and I have spoken and we will go halves on a new fence. She will get a quote and we will take it from there. We both have dogs to keep in.

Taking of dogs, that explains why the border at the top has been split as the dog cares not for my plants and runs around the garden like a mini tornado wrecking havoc ( Lurcher) log roll not yet staked, it's all work in progress.

Been mulling this over for a few weeks, but I've decided to demolish my gazebo and cut down a tree, I have ideas what I want to do after but I need to demolish first and sit and think after, that is weather permitting.

Wind blew two chairs into the flower bed, with one of the chrysanthemums being flattened in the process. It also had a good go at blowing a standard rose out of the ground as well as the 4 willows on the other side of the garden.

So my day has mostly been putting things back in their right place and finding the heaviest things in the garden to weigh the soil around some of our nicer plants down

Definitely in need of stake shopping ASAP.

did a lot of lawn mowing on Sunday. So while out with the riding mower. had this shrub that I needed to stake up right better. It would have been one that many muscles would have to work hard at. so I gently used my riding mower to push at it, got it up right, had already a steel stake in place and used a piece of an old hose with a chain threaded through. Got it tied up. So now its upright better. Its probably angry at me for doing that but, OH well.

Hey ho, it’s lashing down here, one lawn cut and I’ve just moved the other lawn cuts to next week as it’s pointless and they are not desperate for cut.
Cup of tea, hang waterproofs up and do a bit of reading.

Visit today from an old friend....forgot how nauseating his puns were and still are . He left with a flurry of them:snorky:

Late but trimmed back a small lavendar hedge I planted in summer that flowered late. Now a nice neat edge. I needed a replacement shears.....left them somewhere in the garden...and a newly recamped Aldi were selling shears, secateurs and loppers for less than £10 ...the whole lot :) Not a regular at Aldi but prices are attractive

Picked up a couple of echeverias for £1 99 incl a clay pot in Lidl too

Windy but warm ...so far not too bad :noidea:

Emergency trip to B&Q to pick up 6 metal stakes and some plant ties and even managed to time the trip home so that we had the only 10 minutes it's stopped raining all day to put them in the ground.

If the wind still takes hold of our plants after this, we'll just have to take our hat off to it. Because we can't do much more, bar put the whole garden under a giant tent.

In the greenhouse, which is thankfully still where it should be, it looks like we'll get 12-15 more tomatoes from our two plants, which will put the total close to the 70 mark.
