Not much time to spend in the garden today but did manage to begin the process of cutting down perennials that are over or almost over......some heleniums, sanguisorbas, lobelias, potted dahlias and the like. This exposes the various hellebore clumps which will be fed after they have been deleafed next month. Will move and divide a large helenium tomorrow.......can get away with this here but heleniums really should only be divided in the spring of course! :)
Aeonium swarskopf cuttings taken in the spring are now 40 cm tall......I like to pot them on now as they seem to make reasonably rapid growth in the autumn.

Mainly more clearing of perennials and cutting back of shrubs etc. sprinkler still going on some of the areas that need weeding and/or digging.

Picking the last of the courgettes and squash and clearing the plants and picking loads of beans. We also picked about 50lb of cookers with me up the ladder and passing them down to Mrs Shiney (trying to shake off the earwigs first).

Mrs Shiney has also been very busy this week, apart from doing most of the cutting back, as she provides the foliage for the three flower arranging clubs she goes to and that takes a lot of time. She will also be working out in the garden this morning making flower arrangements for a friend who is selling her house. They are having a day full of viewers and the arrangements make the place look better.

I was going to mow the main lawns today but the thick fog has made the grass too wet.

@Verdun what will you be feeding your hellebores with please?

I have some that we planted last year and haven't done anything with them yet.

            Hello Sienna's Blossom :)
I use fish blood and bone when I cut off the leaves. I also apply a mulch....can vary but a mixture of mpc and chicken pellets/ dried manure or mushroom compost :)

Ok thanks @Verdun I'll make sure to feed and mulch our ones too. Only two of the four flowered last year, so hopefully all four will flower this time.

The sun came out yesterday and dried up the wet grass, from the fog, so I did manage to mow the main lawn. :blue thumb: No time for gardening today.

Mowing the lawns here this morning as we have rain forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow.

Grass is finally looking green again (apart from the patches where the dogs have peed)

Cut niece's lawn earlier but car let me down so my planned planting here was postponed. Car battery needed replacing.....thoughtless vehicle! :gaah::snorky:

Dry and sunny...at times....but cooler today and windy :noidea: Pleasant enough for me to go out there and divide first series veronicas, euphorbia polychroma and salvia vioin music. Surprising how dry the soil was! Soil was enriched with manure and fish blood and bone.....a biggish gap now where plenty of foliage was but all for better growth next season:)
