I'll keep an eye out for them. :blue thumb: I plant them in the tomato bed for overwintering.

        Thanks :dbgrtmb:
I've also taken cuttings from pelargoniums, first time :fingers crossed:. What do you do with the mama plant? I thought about bringing it indoors :noidea: if I put it in the greenhouse I'll probably forget about it

I've had a "dwarf" Conifer in a 32 inch wide clay pot on the patio for nearly 35 years and it had suffered a bad attack from Aphids several years ago and has never recovered with nearly one complete side losing it's foliage. As I'm having the patio dug up and relaid with cobbles I decided to "bite the bullet and get rid of some of the patio plants.....and that included the Dwarf Conifer. So I cut off the stems and foliage leaving a large stump in the container and tried pulling the stump out of it. Having been in there for nearly 35 years the stump and root ball was not going to cooperate without a fight. So I tipped the container on one side after soaking the compost for a couple days and let gravity do the work and, today, I eased the compost, root ball and stump out with ease.:snorky:

I lost all of my pelargonium last year in the gh so I've brought them in the house this time. Don't put the pelargonium in a propagator or cover them what so ever, they are one of the few cuttings plants that rot in humid conditions.

              Thanks :dbgrtmb: Good advice
              Now to the begonias
I feel like breaking into song!:snorky:
              Should they stay or
              Should they go now!:snorky: Etc....
It's my first year growing these strange plants, still not sure about them but my baskets, trailing apricot delight, or some other ridiculous name, where fabulous!
If I can save a few pounds drying them out, why not?

If the corms have grown to a good size I keep them, I dry the plants out laying them on their side for a week or 2, I remove any excess compost and foliage, wrap them in newspaper and box them up for next year. I start them off in tray in March, the corms sit just onto of the compost ( dont cover them ) concave up and give them a light mist and wait and see. I've not had any success overwintering small corms.

Bulb planting today :) pulled all the new bulbs out of hiding.
You wouldn't think they is just over £160 worth of bulbs there , feel like I've been conned somewhere :th scifD36::cautious: Some bulbs like the fritillaria ivory bells are dear though.

Saved daffodils from last year and about 20 tulips (y)

So I have about 200 tulips to plant
                    200 daffodils
                    120 crocus
                    70 muscari
8 fritillaria persica - 3 black / 5 white , might try and get some more black ones
                    50 alliums
90 other bulbs like eranthis iris hyathins etc.

Planted nearly all the tulips but for 15 , lots of daffodils planted, all gone in pots around the house I'll continue planting them all week but most of the pots are done but for adding extra's like voila's / wallflowers / forget me nots / pansy etc.

Found some of these in the daffodils I stored over summer, they are Narcissus Fly / grubs ugly little critters

I've got chrysanthemums growing in pots in my cold frame, thyme and rosemary still looking okay.
Some roses are still in bloom, need to catch up with some weeding though. :psnp:

Not many bulbs planted this autumn......some daffs, tulips and anemone blanda .....but there are loads already in the garden. Daffs, for example, multiply so quickly and I have pots of divided varieties too. :)

First attempt at a '100 hour candle' to try and keep our little 6x4 greenhouse above freezing as we've left it a bit late to get 'leccy' in there and I don't really want to spend a fortune on a paraffin heater just for one winter. Already learned that the jar we have can handle more than the 2 packs of Trex we bought and that adding lavender oil improves the smell greatly.

                                Untitled-2.jpg

Need to make a detour to the local garden centre tomorrow to pick up a terracotta pot to put over this and we'll see how it performs. If this one works, I will definitely look to fill more of the jar with the next attempt.

(And no, the jar isn't absolutely enormous, I had to chop the candle down a good 3 inches or so.)
