Back from the beach and I ordered a couple (more) kniphofias after a quick cuppa in the garden help me decide what else I need there.

One of the kniphofias, Tawney King, calamagrostis karl foerster, anemone Elfin Swan, athyrium niponica Ursula's Red and salvia uliginosa is already a planned planting. A few daffs, Iris Mount Everest, euphorbia Polychroma and a white hellebore already there or will be moved there to complete a nice spot, hopefully :noidea:. So, jobs to do when kniphofias arrive in a day or two

It is very warm, very sunny, very peaceful weather....not even the grasses are moving:SUNsmile:

Some large divisions of rudbeckias, hostas and astilbes will be given away today :)

Took delivery of a new compost bin. Looks good; council subsidised so quite a saving. I intend to compost a lot more of my own garden waste and do so more effectively. :)

Generally tidying up fallen leaves, pruning roses and a bit of weeding. :)

          Enjoy your plants Verdun.:)
Planted the rest of the tulips and wallflowers. Cut down the michaelmas daisies and Japanese anemones. Filled the 3 compost bins, wish i had room for more. Like you Verdun got them from the council at a reduced price.:)

I've three trowels bought at the end of the summer last year from Wilko at a pound each.

            I tend to lose them.

Tackled the wisteria on the pergola next to the pool. Stripped the last of the foliage, then spent quite a bit of time tying up the numerous branches and pruning off unwanted ones. It'll get another prune between Christmas and New Year.

            P1010980.JPG

Few leaves made their way into the pool, the bottom drain will be able to handle them.

            P1010982.JPG

I'll tackle this one next week. Some serious pruning here will be required, far too much foliage due to very healthy growth in the ideal conditions in the Summer.

Beaten by the sunset with only one rather obvious bit left to do.

Not strictly in the garden today but for the garden, the cross members for my hexagonal pergola will join together on top of the posts and overhang by a 30mm triangle, so to blend it in I am making a mold for a fibreglass corbel (just a posh name for a support) will be able to make six identical ones for pennies.

Oh,nearly forgot also checking over all the overwintering plants and potting on new seedlings/ young plants that have outgrown their pots.

Will do the daily leaf collecting a bit later too:autumn:

Enjoy this lovely sunshine, if you have it!

I've thinned out the viburnums in the front garden, one was "attacking," a rhodo next to it. In a fight between them a viburnum will always win. As the rhodo was being pushed to one side, after removing a big old branch of the viburnum, I've wired some of the branches of the rhodo to the viburnum to get it to start straightening up. I'll shorten the wires every few months, but it'll take a few years to recover.

More leaf collecting, green bin is full..again!
