No gardening for awhile due to 2" snow and blizzard conditions . Currently strong winds and -5. :hate-shocked:. Also, have no electricity.

Brought Cedric hedgehog into the house from his outside run ( the other two us the three in the caravan are hibernating. The wildie hog is still coming to feeding station but I haven't been able to catch it yet. The birds are getting fed extra foods ( I also bought them some Genoa cake and sultana scones, which has gone down rather well :snorky: ).

On my way into a shop yesterday I noticed a pallet with a dead Robin lying on it . I wonder if the cold was responsible. Its very hard for little birds in these conditions, especially if they have no support feeding. My friend in Devon has been out feeding the birds in local woods and parks as well as the birds in her garden - what a lovely person she is :wow:

That's good of you @luciusmaximus and that lady feeding the birds in the woods. I actually fed the magpies today-i think they are desperate too so id rather them eat bread than other little birdies.

Keep going out and breaking up the littlepond. Still loads of birdies out eating food from this morning.

The Magpies, Crows and Jackdaws here like the left over hedgehog foods, kitten biscuits and wet cat or puppy food. In winter I just leave out kitty biscuits. Blackbirds will eat the kitty biscuits too and all of the birds like the wet foods.

I imagine that they will. Whether the ratties turn up as ARMANDII has mentioned is open to debate. I don't mind them being here in the slightest, they have to eat too. But you may not be so keen or your neighbours. You can put the wet food and biscuits in hanging feeders if you are concerned about food on the ground. The brown rats diet is seeds and grains based and the ones we have here prefer the bird seed mixes over the hog food. Pregnant, lactating and young rats need higher protein levels in their diets so they will eat the hog foods. Bet you didn't know I was such a mine of information about rats :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Its a bit like a Siberian wasteland here at the moment, worse to come tonight and tomorrow ( 58-60 mph winds and around an inch of snow ) and then should hopefully be improving. It's the wildlife that suffer the most, it's very hard for me to watch them struggling so much . Do you have it bad where you are?

Pretty good description Lucius :hate-shocked: we have winds approx 70 mph already so the snow is swirling everywhere - cant see a thing outside- only been outside to keep filling up the feeders and thats
                          hard enough
