Spent half an hour wandering rather aimlessly around the garden wondering where to begin and ended up doing nothing. Apart from a bit of sweeping up along one of the paths. Two of the Sparrows seem to have decided on the Willow tree nest box :hapydancsmil:. The pond has arrived and it looks huge :). Planning to start installing tomorrow. Went into Holyhead and actually resisted buying some perennials on sale at 3 for £5 - most unlike me. I do need more but think I will wait until I've planted up and then see what space I have left and where.

@Sienna's Blossom is yours in bloom? It looks good on the box. Only time will tell if it looks as good in real life. I thought it was more interesting looking than the reds and yellows.

@luciusmaximus that sounds like a typical day for me. I often walk around like a headless chicken. I’m glad your pond arrived.

I too am going to resist buying any more plants until I’ve planted out the ones I’ve got. There will be plenty of time to fill in the gaps once the others have established themselves.

The exception to the above is the Salix Flamingo I intend to pick one up when I find one at the right price (groupon are selling 2 for £26.99. It’s a good price but I only want one ). Agapanthus bulbs. The Factory Shop are selling 3 for £5. That’s even better than Wilko’s £2 each. I’ll pick some up next time I pass that way.

      :snorky:

No not in bloom, I've googled images of it though, Waltz Time I think it's called? My daughter wanted a purple rose so when we saw it we couldn't resist. Good to encourage her love for gardening from a young age! :)

          Hi @Sienna's Blossom ,
          Rose " Waltz Time " isn't a purple one it's a pale silvery lilac/mauve.

              Hi @Loki ,

It is a gorgeous colour with a fantastic scent. It does send out long shoots and can grow quite easily up to about 4' , but we use it for cut flowers and so keep it down that way.

PS..... Because of the way it grows you can also get it as a climber.

Cut flowers, scent, beautiful, what's the catch :th scifD36:, is it one of those tricky ones that only ' proper gardeners' know how to care for? Please tell me it's an easy one :fingers crossed:

@Jack Sparrow I tend to think Wilcos is a bit overpriced. They are selling lily of the valley, asiatic lilies, agapanthus ( and other things ) @ £2 for a pack containing 2 bulbs. My local £ shop has packs of same but with 4 bulbs same price. B&M has same packs same price too.

Haggled a deal with my local nursery for 20 lavendar plants........2 litre pots for £30, far cheaper than elsewhere I think. :) Hardened off too so no problems with planting out in next day or two.
I plan another lavendar border and gone for Grosso that I think has the best scent.

Already have a 40' lavendar edge to my veg patch.....wonderful flowers in summer with wafting perfume across the garden. Roll on summer

I love lavender :wub2: I once had it bordering the path to the lawn. Sadly it just got to old and died. The path to the lawn was 2feet wide at best, less in high summer. The kids where toddlers then. Passing though those buzy bees, telling them ' it's ok ' brings back so many memories :wub2: I like to think I taught them that bees are good and not out to kill them:lunapic 130165696578242 5:
