@luciusmaximus it's madness how much some places want to charge and all the best with choosing on line

 

I picked up the only red one , they had one white one in as well which I was considering and the rest were pink

 

Moss is really nice in the right place.

 

I bet that will be nice @Perki ....ours are white and pink intermingled but we brought those from a morrisons store

 

@martin-f well I've never before in my life saw it crafted in to art work and it looks quite out standing mate...for adding the video, it's opened my eyes

 

Well if the weather keeps nice the weekend and my are fully crossed...the 5 dead bottle brushes are coming out on the front, sad state of affairs that was and being replaced with my new grasses...which I've had out of the shed since the snow went to adjust to this cold climate...they've been trimmed and any deadness removed...so i'll be one pleased lady when they go in

@Gail_68 , what are those grasses again ? Are they the Hakonechloa macra Aureola ?

 

On the contrary lucius, I find buying online very cost effective IF you shop around.

Hi @HarryS I found the name of the grasses if you mean the yellow ones (carex elata aurea)...they develop black flowers...this pic's off the net

No Harry....Bowles Golden Grass is totally different.....yellow flowers; millium effusum
Gail has golden sedge ...carex elata aurea.
One is a (beautiful totally yellow) grass; the other a sedge

The beach earlier was more overcast today but feeling warm. Not going to be the glorious weather of past couple of days and rain is in the forecast for later but very mild, even overnight

 

It's not fair...
We finally have the ground above freezing, it's mild, and no cold wind or rain - and I'm struggling with a cold bug that my husband has so kindly shared with me!

Still, I've been out to prune the apple and pear trees, and the two completely different Winchester cathedral roses we have. Boy, the apple trees are slow to get going! We've had them for 2 or 3 years now, bought as 1 year maidens, and they've hardly moved at all. I think they'd have grown backwards, if we hadn't bought them on small-orchard rootstock! I'm in two minds about posting photos of them after pruning. I think @shiney would say to take much more off. But the year's growth even on the established trees (10-15 years old, at a guess) is less than 8". One established apple has had the large oak-branch that was growing above it removed. It will be interesting to see how the tree re-shapes itself this year.

Whilst out there, I've re-found my corkscrew Hazel tree, that has moved house with me 3-4 times, before getting its feet ground. It sulked for a few years, but is finally taking off. So I cut all the ivy and brambles that were growing around it. It will be good to be able to see it this year!

Time for a cuppa before I prune the miniature roses in the angle bed, and check the roses in the top bed. Then I will reward myself with some drawing time!
