Thanks @Verdun , Bowes is Milium effusum aureum . These grass names are such a bloomin' mouthful , no wonder I get confused ! Where would we be without Google and Google images :blue thumb:

Yep, confusing indeed HarryS.....Bowles Golden Sedge and Bowles Golden Grass.
Its why the latin names are so important to get exactly what we want :)

            All the roses now pruned....!

            Silly question now -
Do you prune out the dead stems from your Kilmarnock willow? Ours has been planted for nearly 5 years now, and there are lots of dead stems near the centre. Where I've taken the dead stems out, it looks better, but is this the best time of year to do this? Not sure my back can cope with more than a few mins at a time!

Yes, prune out all dead stuff......asap. Also prune to create a "skirt" so thin out congested branches. Constantly checking to maintain a balance and avoid creating a solid shrub image. Fun n games, but get in and under the canopy and remove branches that occupy the centre.
However, I prune after flowering so, here, in mid April.

A very quick potter today. I repotted my climbing rose into a builders bucket. I am happy to leave it now until I’m in a position to plant it out.

This morning I went to the Factory Shop and bought a new trowel and 3 Agapanthus bulbs for £5. I have no room here so I am going to take them to my mums to start them off. While I was pottering I mixed up a tub of multi purpose compost and bonemeal. That, along with the 3 bulbs and 3 pots, I put in a carrier bag ready to be delivered later today.

I think spring has sprung in my garden. There are some nice clumps of crocuses out. The daffodils are opening up. My campanula looks full of life (the ones in the shops are already in full bloom). I bought it late after it had died down so it will be interesting to see it in all its glory.

The rose bushes are looking really healthy. I will have to get out there at so,e point and tidy them up.

                  G.

                    Ty, @Zigs and @Verdun !!

I know dead stuff comes off whenever, " cos it's dead, innit?!". I was more concerned about losing my lovely catkins. But they seem to be quite sturdy. And on that bed, it's a case of now or never, since the willow took over the path! Soon the herbs will be up, and there will be no access!!

Let there be light!! you can even see the tulips coming up underneath.

That's it though, my back has had it for today. Time to draw a bear having a bath, as you do...!

I only went into Aldi yesterday for some kitchen rolls, but also came out with these.
Today, I planted some of them along the long narrow bed next to the garage, where they'll get plenty of sun and squeezed the rest of them in "here and there."

Sian, I only mentioned "dead stuff" because you yourself referred to "dead stems".
                        Looks fine now.
You can, and forgive me if I am stating the obvious to you, prune to widen or narrow your plant by cutting to upward facing or downward facing buds.....as with most weeping shrubs.

Sorry, @Verdun , my comment about the "dead stuff" was more directed at @Zigs ...

No offence taken, at all. I will go round the base of the tree, pruning to above the lavenders, after the catkins have finished, or at least before the marjoram mint and chives have regained control of the bed!

                            Thanks Sian :)
A very, very frustrating day......following on from last two days of glorious sunshine, today is wet, wet, wet.
I have potted on argyranthemums though, cleared out guttering and prepared pots for later planting. Things are budding, temps are up and I am desperate to garden. Allowed today for it too!!! Ah well! Patience I guess!
