Nothing done here apart from water houseplants and seedlings on the window sill. The weather forecast for the next week looks like a lot of rain too.

Will venture to Lidl for their compost this weekend.. good stuff last year.

That makes two of us - my excuse is: I was at work! Now I'm home, the light has gone and the rain has arrived. :heehee:

I only moved some stuff out of one of the unheated greenhouses. And tidied a little out there until it started snowing and my hands were stiffening from the cold.

I am having one of those days where I cannot make decisions. This morning while watering the plant in my indoor grow areas, I toyed with the idea of moving the pots of nicotiana out to the heated (maintaining 56-60f) greenhouse. They are growing like they are on steroids but in the end, I left them where they are. I'll probably have the same stupid debate with myself tomorrow ...

Two new fence panels delivered and fitted for the ones blown out by the Beast . Moved Cordylines (2 ) from sheltered spot . The green with stripe one is 100% , the Cordyline Southern Splendour look like it has had pups , not fared well over winter. Bought a £2 Clematis at Asda potted it up to bring it on for 1 year . Set up my new Inkbird thermostat in the GH , so I can start moving plants in . I just heat it from about now until night temps start hitting 5°c +. Waiting for Indian takeaway delivery now :blue thumb:

Checked out one of my wisterias today, which is giving me concern. It was on the garage wall when we bought this house in 1972. Over time I trained it over the pergola I built between the garage and our koi pool.

But it eventually came to look more like the Lock Ness Monster and bits started to die off in 2016.

            P1060739.JPG

The problem was that the main root was rotting.

            P1060736.JPG

So I took some drastic action and removed all the dead wood. I had to re-make the end of the bed.

            P1060745.JPG

This left me with one long branch that traveled along the top of the fence between the garage and the house and half covered this pergola, meeting up in the middle with one growing up from the other end.

            P1060527.JPG

There were enough layered parts of this to train over the pool pergola last year.

            P1000740.JPG

But sadly there seems to be no life in any of it so far this year and there's rot at the base of the one main branch left. Our other four wisterias are doing well.

I'm going to have to make a decision about it if there's no growth showing in a month (I'm pretty sure it's dead, but my wife wants "to give it a chance").

I'm not that bothered, the wisteria on the back of the house can be encouraged to grow along the full length. I'd been pruning it off before.

I'll probable grow about three clematis up this garage wall instead.

Shame, but nothing lasts for ever does it?

Busy afternoon doing some landscaping around the new pond - I had a distinct moment of deja vu whilst I was shovelling earth and lugging 70ltr bags of compost :snorky:. Planted the 3 trays of recently bought Primroses on one of the banks. Added more sand and gravel to the other mound, which is going to be seeded with wildflowers soon, and raked it around a bit. Sowed some Sunflower, Nasturiums, Angels Fishing Rods, Cowslips and Safflower seeds in large mushroom trays. Very tired tonight :phew:
