@shiney - there used to be (still could be) a similar rat problem here, and it was so severe that it (they) destroyed the timber bungalow I used to live in. The only way to stay on top of the problem is poison. I have a 10kg drum of Neosorexa Gold and use bait boxes - easily obtained on eBay etc.
Fortunately I get on really well with the neighbours, and at this time of year we have to be vigilant finding bodies to dispose of safely.
It seems that once a rat run is established it will be reused time and time again, so the battle is constant. Persevere - I wish you luck. :paladin:

Yesterday I was sowing more seeds....
Courgette, Butternut Squash, more toms (cherry and marmandie) thai basil, lemon grass, chillies.

Got some flowers to do today but need a trip to wilko for more trays as I've run out.

Also will be potting up the new lemon tree and might be naughty and buy an orange tree too. :heehee:

Sounds easy . The cat isn't ours, the pheasants may not be too happy, not sure the dog could get down the holes, don't know anyone with a terrier etc. etc. :phew:

I hadn`t thought of that - and anyway, I made a mistake (it`s those senile dentures again) it`s only 3 kg so possibly not quite heavy enough.
I have found though that this particular bait works better than the one I used to get at Homebase :snorky:

To be honest, as I'm not into plant propagation (too many other interests) other than layering one or two azaleas and rhodos.... not a lot.

It's just a case on checking on stuff.

Like our hydrangea, which is doing nicely despite the recent cold weather.

                        P1010132.JPG

Then there's our sambuca, that gets a drastic prune each year, but is budding up well

                        P1010136.JPG

                        P1010135.JPG

These bulbs which I recycled from a large tub of various plants given as a present to my wife two Christmases ago. More to come up yet.

                        P1010130.JPG

They produced enough to do as well in the tub with a few less.

                        P1010139.JPG

Nice fat buds on one of our wisterias.

                        P1010133.JPG

Some nice flowers on our mimosa, but it was very late this year.

                        P1010134.JPG

Fish are getting more active, tried some of the birds, fat pellets on them which they seemed to like rather than their expensive koi pellets, despite only just beginning to be interested in food.

                        P1010129.JPG

That took all of ten minutes.

Enough for today. It's golf tomorrow, might have another look on Thursday.

                        It's a hard life, isn't it?

Hi @Zigs I've found it - right by where the rats are digging. It's grown about 5ft high but has been bent right over under the weight of the snow.

                          P1380525.JPG

It has a reasonable size main stem on it.
                          P1380519.JPG

There are about a dozen rat holes along three fence panels. The fence is the neighbour's and the holes go under his patio. :yikes:

I didn't have the problem before you did your guerrilla gardening there! :nonofinger:

The rats don't have anything to pick up from the ground as we have our own scavengers :snorky:
