Just applied iron sulphate to the lawns as a moss kill in certain areas and tonic all over. The palm and olive tree fertilisers have just arrived in Amazon lockers , so will give them a go later today .

I thought I’d have a go at weeding and sifting the soil pile. It’s still to wet and claggy to do much with. I was pleased to discover the “weeds” were (or appeared to be) baby daffodils. It’s quite possibly as there were daffodils in the area I dug out. I managed to dig out the bulbs and put them together in a big pot. I was wondering if I were going to have enough daffodils to spread around. Now I think I should be ok.

It's Cuprinol, @HarryS , from the garden shades range. Pretty sure it was called City Slate. It's a really nice deep colour; my wooden borders round the flowerbeds are painted with the same and it's held well through the winter too.

I went to B&Q this afternoon and bought six 125 liter bales of General Purpose Compost. I needed a Mug of Tea afterwards as getting each weighing 97lbs each into the car and out again is not good :hate-shocked::old::heehee: Two of the bales had damage to the plastic bags and had masking tape on them, but had no loss of the compost and I got a discount of £4 on them.....money in my pocket is better than in theirs:coffee::snorky: And my order of 3 more Eremurus bulbs arrived today and I was pleased to see they were really big and plump.:hapydancsmil:
So I had a quick amble around the garden just to see what needed sorting out in the borders, checked in the Green House and gave a few of the pots in there a quick dampening with the Water Can just to keep them "moving". A walk down to the Wildlife Pond showed me that the Frogs have survived the terrible temperatures we've had recently and were just about everywhere.

I usually buying that one. Today I bought 3x50l for £10. I could ‘t Work out which deal was better. It’s definitely easier to handle the smaller one.

                G.

I should have checked the price at Homebase too. Everything is30% off. It might have worked out cheaper. It’s too late now.

A 120 litre man here too, from B&M.......all this rain has made the bags so much heavier but the cash saving makes the carrying worthwhile. :)
Mind you, carrying 2 bags of john innes seemed heavier

I buy 50 L bags, 4 for £10 cheapest I can find anywhere. I sure its one of the main reason to get people through the door, they can then start spending the rest of their money on plants £££ . I have a stock pile behind the shed :th scifD36: 16 bags last time I checked but I did use a bag potting up the dahlias the other day.

Agreed, Harry, the trouble is I have to get another 8 so that I have enough for the year.:hate-shocked::doh:
I have a good strong Porters Trolley to get them out of the car, trundle them into the Garage and out again for when I want to use them.

Believe me, Perki, when you've lugged six 97lbs bales of compost from the pile onto a trolley, pushed it to the Pay Till, then to the car and then lifted them into the car, you're not interested in buy plants.:nonofinger::heehee:

I always buy in Wickes. Prices are good (4 x 70 litres for 16.50 less 10% current offer) and I never have to lift anything. I walk into the store, go to customer service, as for the compost to be loaded in my car and they call one of the staff (last time it was a girl) and tell them to get them and put them into the car. All I do is drive the car near the compost (stacked outside in the car park) and go and pay. I just show the till receipt to the girl and she loads the car. Superb service. :blue thumb:

I want to raise the soil on all my beds. I am probably going to have to buy a bulk bag of it. Unfortunately it’s an expenses I can’t justify spending at the moment.

This is still the best deal I’m ever going to get. Effectively £90 for 3 bulk bags inc delivery. As discussed before though I would need an army to transport it all from my drive to my back yard. I also have no experience in quantities so I don’t know how much I actually need. I still have 2 piles of my own soil to sift through first. Again if I had an army of helpers I might be able to get the sifting done quicker.
