I haven't done much over the winter. The combination of lots and lots of rain and a mad 1 year old crazy lurcher dog that runs around the garden at the speed of light have left my lawn in a sorry state.

She also likes to dig...… so my patio chairs and containers were ( and still are) dotted around the border in an attempt to keep her off.

Been doing some indoor gardening today, washing out pots in preparation for seed sowing soon, I have somehow accumulated LOADS of seeds :snorky:

My Thalictrum seeds have just come up after sitting in my mini grow house over winter!

Not a lot as it's still nippy out there!
Did however make a small effort and cut out the 'green ' stems from 3 small variegated shrubs.......see I'm learning!!:dbgrtmb:

Early January so what else would anyone be doing ? Cutting the grass !

The ground was dry enough so I set the mower a notch higher and cut the grass. I miss that smell of freshly cut grass.

It's a bit chilly here but not a bad day for working. Had we not been due to go out soon I could have spent another couple of hours out there. Hopefully the weather will be decent again tomorrow.

If you can stand the smell of it @BellaBlue, try sprinkling some Jeyes fluid around your beds, that may stop your dog digging. :)

I don't mind the smell so I will give it a go.

                    Thanks for the tip :)

We spray all round the boundary of our garden and it keeps the badgers away.

Decided my scarified lawn didn't look quite enough like a bombsite so went around it again this morning. More than half done but it looks lovely.....:noidea::noidea: :gaah:
I may simply overseed and topdress in March now:)
Very mild and dry...perfect for being outdoors :)

Your scarifier must be a lot more gentle than mine. Even in drier conditions, once over the lawn is plenty. Twice and theres very little lawn left. Maybe I have mine set a touch too low

Out this morning pruning the blackberries and doing a bit of weeding. Sun on my back was so warm that I was in my t shirt.

This afternoon I'll be removing the fleece from the jubea and cycad and messing about in the tunnel
