Good afternoon @Upsydaisy my friend @shiney taught me well.he told just keep going;) while I was sitting here this morning I thought don't sit about go down and prune the Roses at the other surgery so I did ,they only have 30 Roses and one climber,so that;s it now apart from the dead heading through out the summer, and now I have just mown the front lawn(its first one this year) got a slight back ache but if my Dad were here he'd say go and work it off:heehee:

The weather is not very friendly so I have taken the following photo from inside the kitchen.

      20190307_134015.jpg
This morning I painted the middle section of fence and attached chicken wire. When the weather improves I shall do the same with the other 2 panels (not today) . My local garden centre is selling good sized trachelospermum jasminoides @ 2 for £30. For the size of plants that seems reasonable to me.

      IMG_20190228_123139.jpg

These fence panels are roughly 6ft or 2m each. I was thinking of planting 1 plant per fence panel.

This fence is west fencing and is in shade for most of the day. It might get a bit of late evening sun in the middle of the summer.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with the ground yet but I am keen to get the climbers up and running as soon as possible. I can work on the ground another time.

      G.

Far too wet for either golf or gardening

But I like to keep busy. Taught myself to play a bit of C&W.

Very wise advice really isn't it @wiseowl .
My main problem is we are experiencing very strong winds today, it has ripped out the steel post of our washing line which was well cemented in... laundry was flying everywhere. I always end up either a headache or earache when I work in strong winds

I have potted on my Dahlia seedlings though.....in the greenhouse .:):blue thumb:

Pricked out 84 Antrirrhium and 36 busy lizzies and potted on , got some more plants to prick out but its a bit nippy in the GH today and the weather been miserable. tripped up carrying the seed sowing upstairs to the propagator good job I got ninja like reflexes :dancy:

I think you suggested a thorn free cleome a while back Perki???? I grew white queen and violet queen last year ...if there is a thorn free variety I would prefer it :)

That’s a pretty good soaking there DHR:)

Trachelospermum is a great choice Gary....lovely foliage and scented flowers. Classy and prob mynfavouritevclimber :) Yep, one plant per panel is good. As much sun as possible though

Potted colocasia and choc cosmos:) lots of rooted cuttings have been potted on now and space is getting limited :noidea:

Cold wind today and blue sky; the sun is quite strong making for a warm afternoon:SUNsmile:

I wish they were a thorn free cleome can't see them till its to late :cry3:violet queen is what I've sown today.

Dont know if its just me but chocolate cosmos seem to of lost some of its scent , years ago i could smell it really strong but now I have to get right in to smell it

Thanks anyway Perki......both cleomes were quite eye catching though :) .the choc cosmos is a new one to me, viz., Flamingo. Reputedly has a strong scent.
I think scent is often affected by where it’s planted.....here choc cosmos is on a sun trapped low wall. It was strong last year during the summer :)

Yes @noisette47, it's on another reprieve at the moment. I haven't seen the new one on the shelves yet but read about it a few months back. I'll wait for feedback on it after release. I usually keep the use of weed killers to a minimum but bracken is difficult to eradicate.

Same here....not used unless absolutely necessary, but for persistent perennial weeds it is/was the only solution. I feel for the folks who buy stuff without reading the ingredient list. Whether it's herbicide, insecticide or fungicide, the re-packaging of ineffective (and usually dirt-cheap, widely-available) ingredients is a scandal. Several friends here have been caught out and the results were dire.

Good morning I have about 50 pansy plants to plant in the 6 containers that sit by the front door, they should be ok until about April/May when I can put some bedding plants that will last all the Summer, I 'm off now to tidy up the Roses in the Rochester Cathedral garden, they are filled with "Just Joey Roses"

Deep borders are planted with a collection of roses providing a showcase of the history of this glorious flower. The rose is an ancient metaphor for Mary, the Mother of God, and also links to a former Dean of Rochester, Samuel Reynolds Hole, who co-founded the National Rose Society in 1858. A memorial to him can be found just outside the eastern end of the Lady Chapel.

                        Job Done;)

Managed to cut some more slabs but the rains back:mad: , shelf brackets arrived this morning so I've put them up in the greenhouse and found some laminate flooring for the shelf.

I've cleared the winter's deposit of oak leaves from our gateway, weeding as I go, and done something similar to the last island bed. 4 x 40l trugs full of leaves, weeds etc onto the compost bay!
