I played golf this morning when the weather wasn't bad

Came home and wanted to plant out some polianthes tuberosa, my wife bought on-line, but it was too wet. Fortunately I have other hobbies, I taught myself to play this little tune. A near sixty year-old one recorded orginally by Don Gibson.
I've "gone a bit country lately" with new music choices.

Another extremely windy day but lovely and sunny. Just fed some of the potted pllants and had a walk up to the allotment. Mr Snorks gave the grass its first cut of the year - only a little trim. Waiting for the ground to dry out more before scarifying and weed/feed/seeding.

Potted up my Agapanthus plants that I sowed last June. Also potted up some more plants that I sowed last September but as usual their name labels have gone 'walk about ' and I've forgotten what they are!!!!!

Every year I tell myself ' next year I'll label better'...but labels have a mind of their own !!!!;):heehee:

Finally managed to lay some slabs today, covered over with polythene so should be ok, had no rain so far but rest of the week is forecast to be a total washout.

Lemon Balm is a very nice smell and useful in a bath but it can get out of control in the garden. So you'll need to watch it carefully.

Although very windy yesterday the bright sunshine got me out into the garden working. I filled two wheelie bins with weeds and trimmings and the beds are beginning to look neater. I told the garden how good it was looking :dbgrtmb:.

Strong gales this morning but I've done a couple of hours work out there. Mainly weeding with some filling up of pots. :dbgrtmb: The rain has just started.

Would have liked to have gone out and done something but been laid up in bed feeling terrible all morning. Now the weather is so bad and the dogs don't even want to go out for the toilet!

A couple of weeks ago I harvested some "balloon flower" seeds from my mums garden. Might go and sow them in the greenhouse with some other bits. No idea if its the right time for a Balloon flower but will give it a go.

Did a bit of pottering yesterday, pruned the last 2 roses - did a bit of weeding and cut back Penstemon Garnet and the viticella clematis and shredded them.

Sent another email of in my pursuit of more plants, can't seem to find anywhere which has the majority or more than 2-3 plants I've got on my wishlist .

Ordered the rest of my dahlias and bulbs last week so should be here this week . Just order two rambling rsoes from David austin Ghislaine de feligonde and malvern hills , need to get motivated and get out their and do some preparing for the roses , got to move a clematis montana wile I am at it. And the weather miserable not sure if I'll drown or get blown away :gaah:

Just the one job, potted out the nine new polianthes tuberosa bulbs in three plastic pots.
I like to use these saucers, upturned until it gets into the summer, then right way up to retain a bit of water.

                              P1020366.JPG

With the pot movers, I drill a hole in the cente to let water out in the winter. Then cover it with a dab of silicone for the summer, to retain some water. It gets very hot on our patio as it's south facing and the York stone absorbs and reflects a lot of heat.

                              Bulbs coming up everywhere

                              P1020374.JPG

                              and far too many bluebells.

                              P1020369.JPG

                              Patio roses doing well

                              P1020367.JPG

and the six "out of favour roses" and the two mayleen clematis in pots on the drive where they don't see much sun are doing well.

                              P1020377.JPG

Our Stellar cherry is still "wired" to stop branches crossing and rubbing together and make it adopt a more uniform shape. I'll take them off in a couple of months when they have "set."

Lots of nice buds on it.

                              P1020370.JPG

One of a dozen clematis, all doing well.

                              P1020375.JPG

Now if it would only stop raining for a part of every day!

I want to give the roses a spray, we're always bothered with blackspot if we don't do it every couple of weeks once the leaves start growing. But it's not worth doing it if it's wet.

The £3.99 rhodo from Wilko's has flowered! Probably grown on in a too warm atmosphere. I'll have to squeeze it in..somewhere.

Well managed to sow the balloon flower seeds. Also sown some clematis seeds - no idea whether they will germinate and no doubt they'll be nothing like the original plant.

Noticed a mass of greenfly on one of my overwintered plants. So I tried the chemical free approach for the first time - foamed up soap and covered the greenfly - I really hope it works!
