What Jobs Are We Doing In The Garden Today 2019

It has crossed my mind although it may upset the locals.

I considered a rope tied to the truck but have this going through my mind

Being that you are always so industrious. Your time off, must be a short breath.

 

Stump finally removed. Dug under the root ball and then levered it free with the 6' wrecking bar. I couldn't lift it out of the hole so I got the sack barrow underneath it, wrapped a strap around the root, holding it to the barrow and pulled it up the sloping wall of the hole. It must be 18" square and rather heavy. Got to love a sack barrow !
Hole now filled in - will need more top soil to level before grassing. Wellies washed, 3 pairs of gloves left to dry, clothes in the wash, quick shower and waiting for the aches in the morning as this is the most gardening Ive done since the rain came at the end of summer.

Some Seeds arrived this morning , I'll clean my seed trays out over the next few days and then I am raring to go . mostly bedding and other annuals arrived but I have a wishlist on plant world seeds for the more unusual seeds I'll order them next week.

 

Not outside, have been but doing some preliminary border planning for ours and my Dad's garden . Sorted some seeds in to their order of sowing. Always get itchy sowing fingers at this time of year..I need buckets...no truck loads of willpower , anyone know of a reliable supplier??

 

Walked about to check if anything needed to be done in the garden around the house. Straightened up a newly planted acacia baileyana that had got blown over some time over the last few days. Seemed to go back to vertical easy enough and pushed a lump of mud into the space left in the ground when I lifted it upright and it stayed up without much difficulty. Still only about 60cm tall so not a major undertaking. Found some straw pieces on some newly formed hellebores flowers and picked them off to let the blooms show more clearly. Pushed aside some rough looking lavender to make the coprosma/mirror plant easier to see. Picked a hand full of weeds and threw them into the hedge. Only about 20minutes of gardening today with the fairly persistent drizzle making things so damp.

 

Didn't get my seeds started yeterday but today, I've got the soil blocks made and the hot pepper seeds sown.

Pruned my Pear tree..had a sweep and tidy around..still can't get on the lawns because it's stilllll too pigging soggy..

Did enjoy a good sniff of the Viburnum Bodnantense Dawn ,this mild weather here is really helping her scent..flipping magic
