Spent an hour or so potting on felicias, sunpatiens, argyranthemums, agastaches and gauras into 3 litre pots. All from cuttings from last autumn. :)
Very warm...must be 16 degrees or so.
The “big” lavender hedge (30 to 40’) is soon to flower....the scent is always worth waiting for. Cuttings taken last summer are in 1 litre pots now for planting up a lavendar hedges for niece and nephew:) why buy plugs when cuttings are so easy and usually faster growing?
Agree with Snorky....being outside helps our coping mechanisms:)

I've just come in from mowing the rest of the paths and open areas of the wild area. Half way through it started pouring (we needed the rain) and I kept going until I finished. Put the mower away, came in like a drowned rat - and then the sun came out!!!

Using the measurements supplied by @Scrungee last year I've marked out for the post supports, drilled the holes and checked everything is where it should be before I bolt them down properly, ended with the 60° angle I should have :blue thumb:

It's been raining on and off all day. It's raining again now.

I finally got around to planting out my California Lilac. I had to 'deforest' the area first. It hadn't been on my priority list but the other day it seemed to give up the ghost. From research I'm guess that it's been in its pot too long. It's in the ground now so it has two choices. Hopefully there is a little life left in it.

I took the chance and planted out one of my clematis. Some advice would be appreciated.

Do I train it up the stick ( that stick is a bit bent, I will try to find a straighter one)? Do I then leave it to "beef" itself up or do I have to train it around the obelisk.?

Like what you have done Cardinal Red; like the “treat” too :)
Done a lot of planting myself today.....glorious day for it:)
You don’t say what variety of clematis it is Gary but you can just let it grow or, as I do, pinch back the leading shoot to encourage lots of shoots. I would also loosely tie in around the obelisk rather than the central stick :)

@ Jack Sparrow - I've put a full explanation here in my other thread:

Phase 2 of my garden - inspire me!

I'll post the full names etc tomorrow when I can face going into the garden again :)

Potted on my tomato plants today. Most have them have flower buds on already - I can't believe how well they grew whilst we were on holiday for two weeks. Also potted on a couple of peppers (quite a few more to do). I've also sown some more dahlia bishops children - the last lot id started growing got destroyed by blimmin white fly - hope these will do better.

Also fitted two new water butts to the garage and greenhouse so that is looking a little smarter too. The weather has been weird today - one minute bright sunshine, the next black skies and pouring down - all whilst it has been really windy - so haven't done that much outside the greenhouse (except pull a few pond plants out the koi pond as they have been knocked off the pond shelving somehow (fish trying to eat them I think).

Hi @Verdun Its Etoile violette. There isn't much of it to tie to anything just yet. Maybe I should leave it as it is for the time being. Perhaps I can look into the pinching thing at some point. We are going away for the Bank Holiday so whatever I do, it won't be just yet.

I've just watched Monty Don plant a clematis under a home made "wigwam". After planting it he moved on to something else. I would like to have seen what he did to it afterward. Perhaps he re visited it in a later program.

                        G.

Gary, I simply cut the whole plant back around now, or earlier. It will grow fast so don’t worry :) I would do it ASAP

OK. I will have a look at it tomorrow. Would my trachelospermum benefit from being trimmed back?
