Planted the rest of the white cosmos I grew from seed in gaps in the borders.

Checked on the cutting garden which is going great guns after the rain. Sweet peas and a mixed bouquet picked for the house. Who needs veg when you can fill the house with lovely flowers?:)

Pleased to see a small philadephus growing next to a mature jasmine in the border. Can the seeds lay dormant for many years ????
I remember having one in the same spot twenty years ago. It was getting too big so I removed it. Because it was determined to come back after so many years I'm happy for it to stay .....

Dug up more primroses and divided and potted them for replanting in the autumn. Went to the GC and bought more potting compost and grit.

Today Ive been battling a painful knee so have taken it easier in the garden. I think that the movement has eased the pain a bit.
Its been all about planting stuff around the back of the house today and tidying it up a bit (not that you can tell from the mess still to clear up in the photos)

Planted iresine, coleus and a few other bits and moved a few pots about

      IMG_4129.JPG

Musa sikkemensis in front of the grey pot was grown from seed late last year
      IMG_4131.JPG
The plants have a way to grow in this planter but theres no rush

      IMG_4132.JPG
More pots moved into position. Ligularia on the floor had to come out of the border as it was crowding other plants

      IMG_4133.JPG

More stuff still to plant out

      IMG_4135.JPG

Canna musafolia moved into position about to take off

      IMG_4140.JPG

tidied up the border a bit - its great to see things growing again

A warm day today and no interruptions so I managed to get stuck into a job that's been bugging me for a couple of years.

        20190609_171225.jpg
It's still a work in progress but I've got the framework done. At several points throughout the day I was prepared to give it up as a bad job. Its amazing what a difference a bit of rest and a cup of coffee can do. I was determined to finish the job today. It had hung around enough. If nothing else I didn't want to leave half a job.

At a later date I will paint the barrel and fill it with plants. The gooseberry in the pot needs to grow some more. When its strong enough I intend to grow it as a cordon against the shed. The row of bricks I will tidy up and possibly try a sawtooth design.

        20190609_171242.jpg
I have mulched my poorly crab apple tree with a layer of well rotted manure and a layer of bark chippings. Hopefully that will help it keeps it moisture better.

I have now run out of compost and bark chippings.

        G.

Despite the bright start the day has gotten increasingly wet. :rain::rain: For the past couple of hours it has been very heavy rainfall. Still got a walk in with the dogs and met a couple of equally drenched crazy people:) mind you ‘‘twas not cold and sea air is always invigorating :)
Delphiniums, stipa gigantea, thalictrums and other tall plants still standing upright :noidea:

Watered the tomato, cucumber, courgette and cucamelon plants. Fed the chickens and finally finished off tiling Carol's kitchen floor (indoors)! A couple of pain killers and my bed awaits, way too old to be doing floors!

Finally finished clearing the weedy mess (I hesitate to call it "turf") off the front garden, and reseeded with good quality low-maintenance lawn seed. It's a bit late in the year, I know, but I was busy in March and April, so it wasn't until May I got any time.

Of course it's due to piss it down with rain tomorrow, so fingers crossed I don't lose all that seed! I deliberately ordered too much so I could overseed later though, so all is not lost.

And now that's done, I can go back to the main mission this year, which is building raised beds.

Gardening jobs were removing a large Rapeseed plant that the recent winds flattened . I also tidied up the pond a little bit. Whilst netting the blanket weed I found two larvae that could be damsel or dragon fly :hapydancsmil::hapydancsmil:.

Spent rest of day on a zero g watching the birds, the buns and reading a book about the Kursk.

Pic of the Geraniums by the Willow tree in back garden and a few pics of the wild garden out front.

Been garden centre this morning, picked up a couple of plants a Chiastophyllum oppositifolium which I found interesting don't normally look into alpine plant but I've seen a few pictures of these before, now where to plant it:dunno:

Picked up a little streptocarpus called minnie as well :). Found one nearly half the price than the rest and in my opinion the best colour out of the bunch.

Back home and mowed the lawn which could do with a feed now. Planted out acontium royal flush - salvia wendys wishes and sweet peas. Fed the dahlias and tomatoes in the greenhouse and fed the pots with the daffodils / tulips in before I lift them next week for summer display. Cut back the grapevine while I was in the GH turn your back and its off trying to overtake the place. Pulled the wallflowers and forget me nots up from around the garden their time is up but they put on a good show :).

Morning! Not doing too much in the garden today as it is pouring down. I've tidied up some plant trays etc that have been sitting in my conservatory since our holiday at the end of April (oops) and transferred them into the greenhouse. Later I will be doing a bit of greenhouse tidying and sowing some seeds quite late...hoping they will grow in time for later in the season.

Looks beautiful @luciusmaximus - like a wildlife haven, I bet it is buzzing with life. Adore the poppies too.

Nice streptocarpus @Perki I hope you have better luck with them than me. I bought about 8 from Dibley's at a show a couple of years ago and have only got one left...I am useless at looking after them and end up killing them. I'm not very good with indoor plants hence buying the "air plants" which I am hoping I can keep alive.

Yesterday I noticed that several of the plants that were doing well in the spring were starting to struggle. After tea I went round the entire garden and gave everything a good soaking with the hosepipe. I finished the job and packed everything away just as it started to rain. It raining all night and is still raining now.

Well.....wot a surprise! No rain. In fact a pretty good day......fair bit of sunshine and warmth and very little wind. :) Mind you, just a few miles away on the other coast it poured down. I feel god does indeed let the sun shine on the righteous :rasp:

Just cut niece’s lawn and my own and repositioned a couple of very large perennials. I’m sure the rain will come, will pour in fact, tonight and for the week to settle plantings in. The pesky Gulf Stream needs nudging northwards:love30:
