@Snorky85 what seeds are you going to sow. I was thinking of last minute sowing too as my Dad's garden has a few gaps to fill.

The rain is thundering down on the roof and against the windows making a right racket!!

Hubs has managed to almost complete the hedge cutting , which is a big task even in nice weather as all our boundaries are hedge. Most has been shredded just one last bit of cutting to do and one lot of trimmings to go through the shredder tomorrow.

I have managed to siphon off some of the water from a couple of butts into other containers so that we can take full advantage of all this rain!!:dbgrtmb:

        That sounds uncomfortable.

For stuff in eyes, I used to use Optrex. But my wife has some Gatineau Floracil. It's really for removing eye make up. You just push down a cotton wool pad on the top which becomes wet.
I've used it for something in my eye, by just holding a soaked pad against it and blinking. It worked a treat.

I was wondering whether any heleniums would grow and maybe some dahlia bishops children. What have you got in mind?

I'mnot big on indoor plants either @Perki . I have had two for years and I'm thinking they fall in the "indoor growing for dummies" category. One money tree, "Impecunious" and "Deuteronomy" my prayer plant.

It rained all day so the only gardening I did was making sure there was to make sure there was no debris in the rain collecting troughs and then later unjamming my Pink Red Ryder... take that you dirty rat!

We're promosed a sunny day tomorrow and it will be perfect for weeding and filling the capillary watering tubs in the greenhouses with my newly collected rainwater. Free water !!! :).

Just did a post rain recce round the garden. There are lots of plants that have been flattened by the heaviness of the rain especially the ones near the path which will have to be trimmed. I'm hoping the nepeta and stachys will come back after a haircut.:)

I cut some sweet peas for the house and did a general weed round the borders. Later I'll deadhead the roses which are looking sorry for themselves after the deluge - I'll give them a chance to dry out a bit first. The smell of the garden after the rain is amazing.

On days like this I'm so pleased I wasn't gifted with the "tidy" gene because I love the chaos and promiscuity of the garden at this time of the year.

Have been having a good old clear up in the greenhouse after using it as a dumping zone for the last couple of weeks. My baby plum tomatoes (a la Tesco) are doing well. I've got to pot on my peppers (a la Tesco also).

I'm clearing the greenhouse shelving to prepare for my succulent planting. Had to come in for a bit because of a stinking headache that has come on and need a cup of tea.

It's still pouring down outside...it hasn't stopped since yesterday afternoon. My pond is looking lovely and full again. Despite it pouring down the blimmin contractors who do the grass cutting here are out cutting the grass. How stupid - no doubt they will make an utter mess.

                      Sorry ....tad late in replying!!

Not sure really, I was after you inspiring me!!!!:noidea::heehee:

Probably just some quick growing summer bedding to fill the gaps and mingle with the Ground Elder at my Dad's. My thinking is distracting the eye as much as possible from the dreaded G E :lunapic 130165696578242 5:.....I can live in hope!;)

This morning had a bit of a tidy up....pulled up a lot of badly battered and beyond hope looking Love in a Mist...each year I vow not to have it in the garden, but can I resist it!

Spent the afternoon at my Dads, again only doing a general tidy up as I will spend all of Friday over there for my proper gardening session. But did plant up another pot for him and deadheaded his roses and geraniums. Trimmed up the Passion Fruit plant by his back door which thinks it's decended from the Trifids!!

It's now pouring down and that wasn't forecasted :nonofinger:

ha ha, I said I was going to do heleniums...I didn't even look to see what seeds I had!

It's rained so heavily today. I ended up potting on my peppers. Then I picked a load of courgettes off the lotty and have just made a chocolate courgette cake. My goodness it is delicious. I've just had a big slice....it haws satisfied the chocolate craving for the week now no doubt. ha ha. oink oink

Just a comment on seed for dahlia Bishops Children......I sowed seed a few years ago and the plants produced were all excellent. All with typical dark foliage but with a range of flower colour in pink, red and orange :)

Sorry just noticed your posts @Upsydaisy and @Doghouse Riley
Yes it was hurting a lot, must have been a bit of grit or something from the compost. I flushed my eye a few times, but it wouldn't go or my eye was sore from it. But it's alright today and thanks both.

No real work in the garden except for a walk around seeing how things are growing or if they have been damaged by recent heavy rains. Dwarf delphiniums are over a metre tall and about to flower; these flower all summer long once they start. Dahlias in flower or starting to. Salvias, agastaches and most everything else is about to flower. Quite exciting. Camera at the ready over the weekend me’thinks :)
Peas just about ready for picking too :)

Too wet to do anything, just stood at the side door to the garage for a few minutes and watched the rhodo blooms falling, still a few hundred to go. Cleared a lot away yesterday.

The alternate sun and rain is helping the new plants on the old waterfall spread out nicely.
