I’ve just done a little weeding of mum’s garden, pulling out rampaging everlasting sweet peas, goose-grass (cleavers), and bindweed. I want to deadhead the iceberg rose next to the front door, as it’s been knocked around by the rain and wind - but mum wants me to sit and tell her how to cash a cheque.... maybe tomorrow, rose!

I'm forever pulling up perennial sweet peas here. Once planted, they seem to be there for good !

Gaillardia are a real value for money plant. They flower all summer long, provided they are dead headed and they come back year on year.

I feel your pain with the solicitor missing important 'stuff'. Ours missed the fact that there is a development control line along our boundary meaning that they can take a strip of land to widen the road. As they have now narrowed the road I don't think it will be an issue. Annoying nevertheless. We spent a couple of years challenging the negligence of the solicitor and won in the end.

Council planning are a nightmare. We were refused permission to add a wrought iron fence above our wall to contain the dogs and initially refused permission to renovate our barn. We got there in the end but they are hard work !

The usual, dead heading, weeding, tittivating, staring for longer than necessary if I'm honest...cut my first Cue and plenty of lettuce for tea, can't wait for my toms,I swear I'll go mental for a proper home grown tomato,I've missed 'em.

I've been out doing my bits of mowing before the forecast storm (probably the teacup variety) come to play. I only mow the grass out the front on the lane, the small lawn at the top of the drive and the immediate area around the borders, hubby does the rest of the main lawn. I do my bits as I don't trust him to not give my plants a haircut that drape over from the border to the lawn.:heehee::nonofinger:

Ahhh, I envy you @lolimac I haven't grown any Toms this year and I'm bitterly regretting it. Might see if my local nursery has a plant or two. :blue thumb:

Broke off from work to mow the lawns. They were last cut on Friday (I think) but the rain plus feed have meant that the grass has shot up

Just been spraying a little here and there and later when the sun shows it's face, I will be fiddling with one of the solar pumps again. I'm determined to get it working. At least one of them is doing a dandy job.. touching wood here..:rolleyespink:

@andrews thank you for the reminder. I've got to feed the lawn. I had to wait until all of the grass seed had sprouted and grown a bit before doing so. :)

Potted on pineapple sage...salvia elegans.....to give away (what better plant on a pathway, by a door or under a window? Potted on zaluzianskyas again. Final potting on (into 5 litre and 10 litre pots) for many others. Tied in extra supports for clematis Florida Sieboldii (now starting to flower) Several dahlias flowering now...incl Bishop of York, Llandaff....and agapanthus about to bloom. I "attacked" next door's overhanging trees, by taking a ladder to the rabbit shed, then standing on the roof and getting to work with my Barnel telescopic pruner.

Doesn't show that well here but they are about six feet taller than our house. After I did a bit you'll notice they look a bit "one sided." I managed to fill the green bin with what I removed.

                      P1030032.JPG

There's still more to do in the middle but I'll have to put a ladder up against the fence. Some will be beyond the reach of the pruner, even with the ladder.

I have to do this fairly regularly. If I leave it too long, the branches get too thick and the Barnel won't cut them.

It's been raining so I started sowing the wallflower seeds.

Sow a few seeds in each then thin out to 1 seedling each. When big enough I'll pot on the plant and the roll, doing 350 altogether

Yayy!! Another toilet roll user!! I use them for peas and beans, and sometimes pip-seeds (citrus, dates, etc) if I’m not using the plastic bag method.

That's great I've used them for runner beans and the kitchen towel roll for parsnips.

Up and at 'em at 6am and seen as there was talk of a good down pour decided to go out and start flinging handfuls of chicken manure pellets in the borders ...saves watering it in....
Annnnyway....only had a tidgey bit of drizzle at lunch time...now 23 degrees and my garden smells like a sewer with a hint of Rosa Gertrude Jekyll...I'm beginning to think the weather forecasters are getting more like politicians ,they say one thing and it does another..:rolleyespink:
