      Repotted a very sorry looking Dwarf Apricot,alright I hold my hands up,I've neglected it to my shame...it has now got the very best care it can get so it has two choices it lives or dies.Fed and watered everything in sight,swept ,tittivated,fluffed things up and had an all round faff..God I love gardening.

          Grabbed salad stuff and fruit and impulsively ordered another linaria. :)

              Had a good old tidy up of the East patio now that hubs has finished shredding the hedge cuttings. Dead headed, cut back, pulled up or moved things I wasn't happy with. I am surprising myself at how ruthless I have learnt to become!!:heehee:

              Sowed some more seeds....again!:blue thumb:

                Been quite a busy few days around here - Friday, I set about cleaning all the windows (lower floor only) around the front of the house, then repaired a couple of hairline cracks in our front door before moving on to weeding the driveway and the front garden (I say garden, it is all pretty much laid to patio). The worst bit was at the foot of the wall that runs up the side of my driveway - having done battle with the weeds there, I looked back at it and thought it looked pretty rotten to be honest, so I started digging with my trowel and found that it only went down a couple of inches and was solid concrete under the mix of pea gravel, soil and goodness knows what all else. That, and the fact that I really struggle with weeding now set my mind - car keys in hand, off I went.

                A trip to Homebase and I came home with half a dozen bags of blue slate that they were selling cheap (£3 a bag), dug all the rubbish out up along the wall, and then put the slate in. I didn't do a before pic I'm afraid, but here is the after:

                I also weeded along the base of our front wall on the pavement side, and gave the pavement a good hosing down, then planted up my two wee hanging troughs:

                Yesterday morning, I got to looking at the front, and again that weeding thing raised it's head again, as did the fact that washing the lowered part of the garden has always been a pain in the rear as the water does not drain away readily, and it always ends up standing in dirty water.....

                You can just see the step down in the first image, and the second image shows almost all of the front bit; there is an Hazel in the corner (you can just see it peeking out in the shady bit) that I have wanted to get out for years as it will be undermining the building and looks awful. So, we went off to Homebase again.... twice!

                The first time we came home with weed suppressing fabric, and 20 bags of slate as well as 3 x 120L of compost, all of which we managed to get into the boot and back seat of a Jag XJ. We had to go back as we needed another half dozen bags of slate, and whilst there bought a couple of hydrangeas and a mahooosive pot to put them in. Here is the result of that:

                The unwanted hazel got sawn off at the base using an electric saw, and the remaining stump is now in the corner under the slate and weed suppressing fabric. My hope is that doing this will negate weeding and cleaning any droppage from the camelias I will be able to get with my vac. The slabs remain under the fabric, unharmed, so all of this can be lifted if needs be.

                Today, I finally planted up my hanging baskets:

                We went on to plant out our carrots, cauliflowers and edamame beans into our big barrel planters - got two empty that will take strawberries in the next couple of days.

                        Just watered some things with the rainwater collected. One of my 11 year old granddaughters was here so I showed her how the spigot works and the mechanics of the ball cock. Then took her to the florist to get a flower arrangement for a neighbour whose father died. She was not impressed with the one cooler area of the florist being as she was dressed in summer garb.

                        Then looked at tne weeding I need to do. Just looked... bad Lori...

                            My visits to a few GC didn't go as well as I hoped zero plants for me :cry3:, didn't see anything to go with my cannas in pots by the front door, I've put some trailing petunias in but could do with a middle plant?

                            After getting motivated to go and do something in the garden I planted out quite a few plants - salvia black and blue - selinum - agastache - dolichos lablab beans which i had to scramble through a bed very overgrown / happy plants to get to its planting place, got a large dahlia planted out, untangle more trailing petunia planted and then cut back they were already 3ft long .

                              Most of my cannas are in the ground Perki but I do have some in pots too. Because they are such greedy and thirsty plants I tend not to plant other plants with them in containers:)

                              Linz, I have made a brief comment on your other thread. When making curves in the garden I consider how easy it would be to use a mower there. It is a good indicator too of practicality and appearance I think :)
