Yesterday was greenhouse hokey cokey, mowing, weeding and plant selling. :blue thumb:

Hi Shiney, well remembered:thumbsup: Well, hang onto it as I still want it although we might need some help to get it into the car as they aren't the lightest of things around:dunno: :hate-shocked: Just let me know what you'd like as a donation or would a £100 be enough:scratch:? :ideaIPB:You can either pop it into a envelope and send it 2nd class post:heehee: or we can wait until they let the local B&B open and I can drive over to pick it up or maybe even get a Courier to pick it up and let them strain their backs:yes::heehee::loll:

You might say my system is semi-hydroponic as the toms get nutrients from the media as well as from the tank. Tomatoes are heavy feeders so I add the hydroponic nutrients to supplement what they can take from the media. I could use an inert media and go strictly hydroponic but I have found that this method works best for me. The addition of builder's sand and perlite maintains just the right amount of moisture and prevents soggy media from killing the roots.

One of the old blueberry plant had died and just replaced it with a new one. Had to get all the old compost out and put that in a large pot so i can use it on the garden. The compost that I had left i topped up the old potted blueberries with.
Later water the polyanthus, like to keep them topped up.

Today’s gardening was uncovering the beans, courgettes and squash that have to have overnight blankies at the moment. They looked really dry, as we’ve had so little rain for the last few months, and a week of drying wind. So got the hosepipe out to give them a good soaking, topping up the wildlife pond whilst I was there. Anyone know how to teach a family of rooks how to bathe without seeming to empty the pond With their efforts?!

After a walk around the local fields and woods, and lunch, it was time to cut the grass. The paths in the meadow area are starting to look quite defined!!

I don't think they will pick it up as I can't move it.

I don't know about that but it certainly weighs something over what I'm able to pick up! When I was 12 I used to think nothing of carrying a cwt of potatoes on my shoulder.

While this Fifth one is, I think, a repeat of the first Iris to break into flower.

Pretty much the only gardening I did today was accomplished dueing the time frames it took to boil the kettle for a cuppa. I sorted through some of the seedlings to figure out where they would be planted but then realized that I forgot what height they were to attain so abandoned that until I get that info back my head.

I gathered a tray of plants and some pots that wouldn't fit on the tray for delivery to one of my daughter in laws. Whilst loading ithe tray in the van, the side of the tray broke and the collected rain proceeded to make me look like I'd had a major episode of incontinence

It rained most of the day and I did pull a few weeds on a quick walk about. So easy to do when the ground is like pudding :)

Thanks, I was not aware that they could flower that long. I did not plant it myself, so I am not sure what variety it is. Admittingly, it is a bit under siege, from May on. I let the blackberry grow without much pruning, because I like the berries, so the rose perhaps feels too constrained, Not sure.

Thanks Lori, I am very proud of my bins. :D Ok, probably proud is not the word, but I agree that they are pretty useful. They are from our local council. One has a broken lid and we have asked a few times to have it replaced. If they ever bring a new one, I was hoping they would leave the broken one with me, as you say it would be very useful. Last time I had to soak hundred litres of woodchips for the mushrooms I was sorely tempted to use one of those.
The large ones are for cardboard and non recyclable materials. The food waste ones are actually quite tiny, smaller that your 13 litre bins, and have no wheels.

@Aldo that is sad that there is so much control over bins. I have scored a few for free when visiting the dump/recycle/waste faci, ity where they also give out replacement bins. I can also purchase them pretty cheap there too. Well worth the money. They fit in nicely just about anywhere down the side of the house or whatever area is out of sight.
