Been out and pruned a Euonymous that got broken by a falling spruce branch last week, not sure how it will grow back. Also cut back Buddleja nivea that had finished flowering, lots to shred now and a bare stump about 2ft tall; I now have a better view of the, non gardening, neighbours rapidly growing field maple collection.

Didn't manage to get the celery planted out yesterday so I've just done that, plus the basil and chives. Just carrots left to go in that bed and it's full! Strawberries in the other bed when they arrive (due in August), and that's my veg done for the season.

Re sown some of the wallflowers to make it up to 400 plants. Suppose i will have to water the polyanthus and blueberries. Just ordered the 90 tulip bulbs for autumn delivery.

My gifted blackcurrant bush has just been dropped off. It's bigger than I was expecting and has some fruit on it already! I got it on the patio just in time for a torrent of rain.

I did some mowing and half a wheelie bin of bindweed. I started my first tour of the season of bindweed pulling yesterday and continued today. A lot to go but then it will be about 30 minutes every fortnight to keep it under control.

According ot the forecast it has been raining here for the last four hours. It still hasn't got nearer than just over a mile to the East. So the sprinkler is still on.

Between yesterday and today I finished some, uhhh.. now that I think about it, I am not even sure how to call what I made :heehee:

Essentially a bunch of cardboard lined with plastic, but it works well enough, allowing to cram in more plants while keeping them elevated.
I already put in a tomato and a Ukichi Kuri. There should be some space for a tomatillo, two cucumbers and a patti pan.

Some support for my wife mint plants. The bind weed was trying to smother them.

Also, I applied slug nematodes, given it was raining just a while ago.

Not much for me to do today - it's rainy so I'm indoors planning sewing and knitting projects instead. But I did have a check over everything and took a few pictures. It's looking good!

Weii, I mowed all the lawns....and the weeds in paths - paving - were so bad that I ran the mower over them as well. They grow so very quickly, I seem to be trying to gauge them out on a weekly basis. We've had no rain here for ages, and hot temperatures...but the weeds thrive. Way too many of them to squirt with Weedol. As we shouldn't keep soapy water for watering plants....would that kill weeds??

I was just having Breakfast, 8am, when the Timber Merchant truck arrived, those Boys start early:hate-shocked:, and put the ordered 4 3.9 metre Scaffolding Boards onto the driveway next to the already delivered 48 pieces of 12' x 4" X 2" timber for the fence rebuild. The Scaffolding Boards are to extend the wooden two tiered bench for the Bearded Iris when the weather improves.
The recent heavy rain had knocked off a lot of petals on the Roses so I spent some time deadheading them. Also this wet weather tends to encourage seeds in the Bird Feeders to grow so I spent some time emptying them, washing them out and then refilling them. I've had a Niger Seed Bird Feeder up for months and it's only in the last 3 weeks that the Birds have started using it but it makes the effort of buying the Feeder, the seeds, etc worthwhile.
I fed the fish in the Wildlife pond but couldn't sit on the Bench as there were 3 large Frogs already sitting there so I left them in peace.
The borders are looking like this at the moment..........

The garden has been wrecked over the past couple of days :cry3:the hail was that hard yesterday its ripped leaves and shredded most of the flowers. It's continued raining hard most of today too so I can't really do a clean up yet :gaah: on the plus side the lawn will benefit. It was pretty brown before. The weather is crazy at the moment. It was in the 70's yesterday lunchtime. Then by the afternoon a hail stone thunderstorm :noidea:

Been over to my Dad's today and did some sorting out. Took some cuttings of some plants that I like that are too huge to move. There are quite a few smaller plants that I will dig up and rehome in our garden next week. I am also going over tomorrow to collect his Lemon Tree .....I once had one that I managed to kill off after a couple years....so fingers crossed 2nd time around!
