Nothing today it's raining heavily with thunder.

 

Sad day at the office for me. Wanted to make the most of a dry spell. Got to my patch to find half of my onion stash knicked...! Cheeky beggars Luckily I have 20 of the lovely crop at home drying out. Also found that my cherry toms didn't take kindly to the weather and a few have fallen to blight. You can't win them all I guess.
I did manage to cut free my new strawberry plants from their parents, ready to pot up. My lovely allotment neighbour gave me a bag full of apples too...so a cinammon apple cake has just gone in the oven. In time for the rain

 

@Emily Jones so sorry about your onions being stolen.
The apple and cinnamon cake sounds good, have you got the recipe please? I will have some apples soon off our tree and some from a neighbour up the close, she's got a bramley tree and always have some to give away.

 

the blinking cheek of it. The saving grace is that I at least have some. Otherwise I would have been really naffed off. Oh of course...I will do a taste test tonight to make sure its ok Aren't we lucky to have thoughtful neighbours!!

 

Managed the challenge of lawn feed. Apparently (the box tells me) you have to spread it on a newly cut grass when the soil is moist but the grass dry. How does that happen? Then, if no rain falls in 3 days, you have to water it in. Rain is forecast tomorrow so I hope I got this right.

I have this brilliant idea to combine my houseplant cacti and succulents in one, large container. The vision is about an oval bowl, approximately 60x30 cm, that would house the biggies and at least 20 of the tiny ones, mostly from seed. It would be just right on the too sunny window. Any material will do, I can sand and paint as needed.

The problem is that I seem to have rather expensive taste. I found some containers I really like... for £600! Honestly, who is paying £600 for a planter? But it is quite nice... NO Selleri, NO!

Slightly damp atm may be nice later. Not planning to do a lot today except enjoy a slice of home made apple tart with my tea later. Just hope the family don't call although I have one apple and one fruit and apple. Wife was busy yesterday. My small contribution? I did pick the apples.
I should say she also made some for the family.

After the welcome rain, the garden is looking a bit better. I did a bit of weeding, planted up a pot with black grass and ivy and then went in the greenhouse and sorted out the dried lavender to put into bags that I intend to make when the weather deteriorates. Hopefully they'll keep the pesky moths from nibbling their way through my woollies. It will make a change from making face coverings.

 

Bloomin eck that is awful! How bad. Id be getting a camera up there to catch the culprits. Some folk are just scum arent they.

 

I cut the grass well I attempted too, first off a flat tyre which I had not had on the mower before. Then with just a bit left to do the foreword cable snapped again, that’s the 3rd time this year but managed to order one at £38!! But cheaper than the last 2.
So will just have to wait a week for it

 

I’ve done a little deadheading, and cut the grass, including the wild areas. Hard work, even though it was cooler than last week.

 

The flat tyre was more than just air, it had come of the rim as I hadn’t noticed.
I had to resort to using grease and a ratchet strap to get it to seal, good job I have a compressor to inflate as a foot pump would not have done it, not resorted to a spray and flame then explosion yet and probably never will

 

Got a bit done at weekend, Saturday trimmed the beech hedged and trimmed top of a laurel I use for a wind break for the GHosue. Mowed the lawn , dead heading / feeding . And Sunday I sowed seeds wallflowers - primrose - echiums wildpretti - rudbeckia indian summer and others , also took quite a lot of cutting of salvia caradonna - heleniums - agastache hopefully they take
