Ruggers likes a bit of cheese on toast, but I've not offered puss lasagne probably because that's one of my fave things and there's unlikely to be any left.

Yay! It's Friday!....although that means nothing to me anymore...everyday seems the same now.

Rain is expected by 2pm so need to do some outdoor things first. Choice is between continuing with the lotty reconstruction (destruction) or filling in the huge hole in the grass from the old patio with top soil. I think it'll be the top soil job today.

1 full bag has done about 2/3rds. I'm pooped. Might start on the second bag later if the rain stays away.

Almost done. Have trod it down using a board. Will leave it to settle overnight and top it up tomorrow morning. It's taken 1 & 2/3rds of big top soil bags so far.

I got back fairly early from Chester today and decided, between showers, to remove the old compost from the large light brown pot that hadn't had many plants in it this year, remixed it with fresh compost, sand, potting grit and a couple of handfuls of Blood, Fish, and Bonemeal and potted on the newly arrived Acer "Shin-Deshojo".......

I've got to put some white gravel on the top to suppress weeds and also to make a nice contrast against the foliage of the Tree.
I also had a another box of Echinacea, Hollyhocks, and Leucanthemums waiting on the doorstep when I got back Home
                  upload_2020-10-9_19-28-20.png

So I opened the box and unpacked the plants and I've left them on the Potting Table until tomorrow......

After that I watered all the Serracena, Venus Fly Traps, Cacti, and other plants in the Green House while the rain from the Showers rattled on the roof, and managed to fill all the Bird Feeders without getting wet.:heehee:

We had an afternoon off from the rain! I spent it cutting back the black currant canes and removing blackberry canes and sideshoots that had flowered and fruited this year. I laid the blackcurrant canes over one of my vegetable beds, ready to cover over for the year. Cleared away some weeds inbetween. Pruned back my roses and turned over (attempted to) my compost bin. Hoping the weekend stays dry for some more hard work. The lotty is very quiet these days...everyone must be hibernating already :noidea:

Planted some more polyanthus and started cutting down the Japanese anemones that have finished flowering but it started to rain.

This afternoon and tomorrow, pick up debris from the strong winds, remove runner beans and canes, dead head and remove spent annuals.
Mulch with home made compost. Plant up freesias to overwinter in greenhouse and flower next spring. Move the most tired dahlias from the front of the house.

Good afternoon this morning I spent 4 hours removing spent leaves on my Fatsia Japonica and pruning my Bamboo plus thinning out the Golden Hop

A bit of a frustrating day due to the weather which consisted of light short showers every 4 or 5 minutes or so.:wallbanging: So I only managed to lay white gravel onto the compost of the newly potted on Acer Shin-Deshojo, while the rest of the time I spent in the Green House watching the Coal Tits and the Blue Tits visiting the seed feeders:hapydancsmil:

Autumn is definitely here so I'm busy with the last tasks of the summer. My favourite job must be cutting leaves off tomato plants, the smell is lovely. I'm not entirely sure if the leaf cutting is a good thing or not, on one hand it allows more light to the fruit but then again, the leaves do protect against cold winds and potential frosts.

Dahlias are still going strong so I can't plant tulips and pansies. Note to self: I will label the Dahlias before storing them. I will! :wallbanging: This year I got pinks where I wanted whites and vice versa. But who can be angry at Dahlias?

Today I might be able to cut the grass if the rain holds back, and finish my crafty project of ridiculously oversized Cactus planter. Happy Sunday! :)
