Although our flower beds are quite disorganised (we actually won an award for the best wild garden, not using wild flowers :rolleyespink: and we didn't even enter the competition!) but I think that sharp edges make the garden look better.

I posted this thread about how I do it.

    Cutting Lawn Edges

If done well, and at the right time of year, they can stay looking good all year. :blue thumb:

Finished nights this morning, the wind is bitterly cold and thrown in for good measure some snow flurries.
Been to collect decking boards for my raised bed build. Birds are all topped up with food and water..

Never had so much fun today. Down Mums smashing up paving slabs with a sledge hammer - and stuffing the bits into a skip. Installed some edging as well - the area will be covered in a good thick layer of 10 mm limestone, and a patio set plonked on top.

On Thursday will be concreting in the edging.

At the allotment on Wednesday - I thought this 'retirement' thingy entailed lots of lounging about and supping tea - it doesn't....

Just potted on the chilli seedlings.
I've done 6 of each variety.
20200211_131334.jpg Put them in toilet roll tubes.
Got Carolina reaper, Bhut Jolokia, Golden Ghost, Scorpion and Naga Morich. Might not keep all of them. I haven't got a greenhouse but i use the conservatory to grow my plants.

I see you went for the mild chillies then. Is the rest of the toilet roll in the fridge in preparation for the fruit ?

Had a good afternoon in the front garden. Moved a massive hebe from the front border into another location in the front garden. To do that I had to dig over an area and remove a load of comfrey, then dig down and remove a wheelbarrow load of clay. Then I had to dig out a massive rose next to the hebe to be able to dig out the hebe properly. I had to also dig out the slef seeded hellebores that had grown around the hebe. Then finally replant the hebe in it's new place and replant a load of comfrey and get rid of the clay by breaking it down and using it to raise to fill up the rear outside borders. I'm shattered. Went to a pilates class and my legs were in agony!

Had a great day in the garden, weeding and tidying up some perennials. Divided up a few as I went. Bought a couple of new Hostas on Monday so I still have to think about a home for them. Made a start ( a tad feeble if I'm honest) at trying to get the greenhouse tidy and bring a bit of organisation to it, but got side tracked into doing other things ..as usual!:heehee:

Not much done today except netting the pond with my newly bought fishing net and repotting one of the pond plants.

We got quite a lot of weeding done (I still think the weeds are winning ) and cut back some more of the big grasses.

We've also approved the final proof of our poster for our Open Day, so I need to post up the invite on the Events page. We usually get about 20 GC members turning up but hope we can beat that number this year.

Still exhausted from yesterday, but have managed to dig out a whopper rose with a big mahonia that had self seeded and grown so close to it and the wall a few inches behind it. Was a struggle getting it out but managed it. Replanted the mahonia on a shady part of the garden. It'll need trimming and tidying up but will wait til it has flowered.

The rose is out and ready to go into a pot until the front garden work is done and I can decide where to replant it.

I've come in for a cup of tea and a sit down. Better get back out there and pot up that big rose...

Got back out there and did the rose. Then decided to dig up a load of poppies and move them to a different location. Dug up three heucheras and moved them. Dug up more hellebores and replanted them too.

                                Exhausted again.
