For most of the last few days it has been leaf clearing (what was the empty compost heap is now 5ft high :rolleyespink:), cut a couple of lawns, emptied 8 x 18" pots of cosmos (still more to go) and Mrs Shiney potted on the babies that had already started sprouting in the pots. Cut back three large Aruncus sylvestris, 2 large Veronicastrums, a 6ft diameter patch of Solomon's Seal (was a good year this year and no bugs :blue thumb:) and started on cutting back some of the Zebra grasses.

I also picked up about 100lb of windfalls (nearly all gone now) and cooked down some of them, gave 40lb to a charity, left three buckets full for cooking and for giving to friends and put 20 of the worst ones back on the ground for the birds and rabbits.

@Loofah Look on ebay and facebook marketplace etc. You might find one local cheap that way. Otherwise there are places like "water tanks direct" online :)

Finally planted all the tulips planted some more wallflowers and some weeding, the wallflowers that have left are small so probably plant 2 together.

My day off, so I put a warm Fleece on and started dividing the 3 pots of Primroses that I bought in at a "end of season" sale at the local Plant Nursery.
The winds were coming from the SouthEast so I was mostly protected by being in the side passage of the House so I mixed another 30 litre bucket of compost, sand, potting grit and Blood, Fish and Bonemeal and manage to divide the three pots of plants into 11 new Primrose plants and potted them up ready for Spring. I've also bought 5 Strawberry plants so I potted them up, and labelled them, in the hope for picking some Strawberries while on an amble through the garden next year:dunno::heehee: Then I had another amble around the garden to check on the borders and everything looked fine so I headed for the House and a Mug of Tea.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Decided to chance leaving our Dahlias in situ again this year. Cut back some this morning and mulched them before covering the 'pile' with some large upturned pots....10 more left to do maybe tomorrow. Started to stack up the Sweet Peas this morning. Checked on the one Peony seed that I have had sealed in a Ziploc bag for over a year now, it's been left outside in a sheltered spot in the garden to harden up to the elements......pleased to see the roots are developing nicely, hopefully it will get potted up in the Spring. :fingers crossed:
Still have some Bellis and a few Wallflowers to plant out too although I did leave all of this year's Wallflowers in the borders and they are all now very large.

              Don't mention bulb planting ...please!:nonofinger:

So behind in garden tasks...so much to do....so little free time at the moment.:help:

Got 4 big bags of compost for the lotty and potted up another 50+ plant divisions out of the garden as new plant pots arrived today.

Haven't done as much as Id wanted to today-just had no "umph".

Thank you Upsy! :) I couldn't even be bothered to empty out the bags of compost into the raised beds.

Almost nothing at all but did buy some dogwoods for a bit of winter colour against the front wall.

Any recommendations for modest sized evergreen shrubs?

If you want something for winter interest we have holly and pyracantha but do need trimming a bit,I think that any shrub will grow big if they're left to their own divices.

Holly is also another good evergreen. And Hebes.
