It's surprising(embarrassing) how much stuff(rubbish) you can acquire over the years. Emptying out the greenhouse and the small shed in preparation for treating and putting me tenders away

Well, I'm glad today's over! One of those days where everything I set out to do was well and truly ******d! Wasted half the day looking for the battery charger for the rotovator, decided to use the Mantis instead, that conked out after 10 minutes......Bonfire wouldn't light, and still got 3 or 4 unfinished projects that I can't get on with until materials are in stock. :wallbanging: I should have simply gone back to bed :roflol: Roll on tomorrow!

Talking of, clearing away/out etc. Do you find the same as me. Oh, I'll save that. It might come in handy. Then a friend asks. You don't happen to .....do you? I did have, but after twenty years, I chucked on the dust cart, last week.

Pond with a lot of leaves blown in from a recent storm needs clearing out. Wellingtons, pullover, waterproof gloves, tea, cake should be a dawdle.

Yet more leaves raked up today. Sycamore this time, stacked around the 6 poted black bamboos to keep the frost out of the roots hopefully, worked last year.:fingers crossed:

Got some more elephant garlic into pots, about 80 ish now, still a couple hundred hanging in bags, might aswell cook em.

Tucked the Fishmate filter and UV light away for winter, leaving the fountain running.

Had a look at the ride on mower problems, diff and spindle bearings look done.:cry3:;)

Cleared pond (v small one out the front) and cleared an area that's been overgrown for years. It did not go especially well! still a mess, ivy everywhere and once again found more hidden old bricks! I have the uncanny habit of doing this with the blades of the lawnmower... I no longer care as the housing is shot through and its days are numbered...
Plan for next year is to make it a jungle pathway for the kids to get lost in :)
Pointing of the patio today using 'Joint it' and some dogwoods have just arrived...

Rake up last of leaves, plant out broadbeans, plant up species crocus received this week, sow some lupin seed in cold greenhouse, inspect dahlia tubers.

Ok so the pointing got put off until this morning but all done now and looks fab.
Cleared all the dahlias, planted out the dogwoods and heeled in some raspberry canes that arrived in same bundle. I always like it when you get extra canes and plants thrown in, 7 dogwoods in place of 5 and 14 canes instead of 10!

Not today but on a recent dry day, I planted an Iceberg rose into a big pot and placed it by the front door. It was given to me in memory of my late partner. Iceberg was a favourite of hers but the one we had died.
I planted bulbs with it - small species Crocus, Chinodoxa, Teta a Tete Narcissi and Hawera Narcissi.

                            DSCF4380.jpg

It looks lop-sided because I only balanced it on some bricks for now. I'll put something better there when I get around to it
The wall is in a bit of a state but it's going to be painted in the spring ...

Over the last few days I've done some weeding, digging up lots of ivy, replanted the Dahlia tubers that the rabbits keep digging out and covered the area with wire, clearing leaves, cut back seven wheelbarrow loads of Hellebore leaves, mowed three lawns and did the last mow of the wild area until the end of next summer. Once a month I shall just mow paths through it. :blue thumb:
