Down on my knees again this afternoon to plant the last 250 Crocus bulbs along the lawn edging leading to the Wildlife pond. It actually took less time than I thought it would because the soil was quite soft and fairly warm and there was clear blue skies above me so it felt quite good to being doing stuff in the garden. I've also got 25 Daffodil bulbs to plant but I'm lacking available space for them so they''ll have to go into the lawn edging around the Southern edge of the base of the Observatory.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

But worth the effort. It sounds lovely, Armandii.x
I'm looking at all my pots and troughs daily and can only wonder at nature, pushing up green shoots of hope, in preparation for Spring.
      Gladdens the heart, doesn't it?

I have to own up. I don't recycle. Long time ago, we had three bins. Black for non-recychable. Green for garden wast & blue for general recycle. Many times, despite us doing our bit. Others would chuck the wrong stuff in out bins including doggy pooprt bags. The council's waste Inspector told us to just us the non-recycle bin. He actually admitted that despite everything. MOST ends up in landfil. So now most garden stuff is shredded and that solves the problem why my garden is two feet higher than others.

A TV programme about recycling found out that all this plastic gets sent abroad where they haven't got any way to process it and it's just left there.

Back in the summer I pushed some Fuchsia cuttings into a raised bed and they rooted and grew away wonderfully, so today I uprooted them and they are now in a container in the kitchen, waiting to be potted up. They seem to have survived last night's frost - the raised bed in in a rather sheltered spot.

General tidy of hidden away areas, planted out a few remaining bare root yew and dogwood and moved a few plants to new spots. One area I was clearing seems to have been a woodland area as once the grass had been raked (hadn’t been cut in about a decade); I’m just leaving to see what else pops up apart from wood anemones, primroses etc
Dug general uncomposted waste into the vets beds for nature to take its course over winter

Planted the rest of the bulbs over the weekend daffs / tulips on Saturday and today was allium planting day . I can't possible fit anymore alliums in the garden it getting crowded well until next autumn ;) . Potted up the fuchsia and pelargoniums I removed from the troughs and took some cutting of the ivy leaf pelargoniums. I dug up Rosa Mary rose today I've had it in the garden for 4-5years but I 've got a bit fed up with it and I am not into soft pinks to much, Going to replace it with another david austin rose Gabriel Oak which has excellent reviews.

Cut back a load more Hellebore leaves and dug up a few dozen large buttercup plants that I found after clearing leaves . Also continued digging our Creeping Jenny, dandelions, couch grass, brambles, bindweed, one large dock, stinging nettles (ouch!) and lots of Rosebay Willow.

Hardly done anything. Had stinking headache for three days runnings and a stinking migraine 3 nights in a row. Luckily beforehand Id cleared the front outside border...pulled up weeds, cut back hellebore leaves, pulled out some pesky nettles. The back sunny border desperately needs sorting out but cant be bending my head down.

oh I have done something in the garden....treated the koi pond with antibiotic treatment for the fish...one of the big koi has got something grim growing on his skin...hopefully this will clear it up.

Checked over all the plants in the greenhouse and the low level coldframe. Removed a few damaged leaves from the strawberries . Cut back a few potted Dahlias that I had overlooked :oopss: and stored them in the greenhouse. Cleaned and refilled the birdfeeders. That's my lot I'm afraid...back indoors for a mug of coffee.:coffee:

Thank you. Feeling much better today. :spinning:

Walked over to my lotty and had noticed the elephant garlic has sprouted. Ordered a bulk bag of spent mushroom compost and a half bulk bag of stones to finish the lotty off. Already I can't wait til the weather gets better...I think I may suffer from that SAD.
