    Thanks, shiney for your reply.
I'm going to experiment and take the leaves off one clump, leaving the others.

Perki- please wrap yourself up in the protective wrap of your choice.
What are you like, young man!

Sometimes i don't get around to cutting the old leaves off the hellebores, but they will die off themselves but if they are you can see the flowers better. As @shiney has said it's best to cut them before they flower so i don't cut them off by mistake, which i have in the past. Haven't got round to finish them it's raining again and I've been baking.

Cleaned out the Greenhouse yesterday and refitted 2 new panels that had smashed. Sowed some Broad Beans too. Today I have mulched the veg beds with homemade compost, which was teeming with bugs and worms. Also mulched 2 of the 3 beds in greenhouse, but have ran out of homemade compost, so will get some well rotted horse manure. Left the compost bin open to dry the sides out a bit in this glorious weather today and will turn the other heap into it tomorrow or Monday. Plus Mr Robin is having a feast from it. I have a couple of jobs inside to do and then I might order some seeds.

The weather was good and mild enough for me to get the mucky gardening clothes on and start to get on with the many jobs that still need doing in the garden.
So I mixed a couple of 30 litre buckets of Compost, Sand, Potting Grit, and Blood, Fish and Bonemeal and potted on 7 different Salvias into 2 and 3 litre pots, a Stachys Lanata into a 3 litre pot, plus 7 Astrantia into 2/3 litre pots.
I found a 5 litre pot and planted the new Stipa Gigantea into it and then dug a hole in front of the Plinth for the Statue in the "walk around" border so that I could put the pot into it and cover the pot up with soil so that the Stipa looks as though it's actually in the ground.
Then, before I headed for a Mug of Tea, I pruned back a couple of Sedums and a Lavender and then shut down the Green House satisfied that some of the jobs were done.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Well it started off dry so I've been out and cut some of the perennials back not all of them just the messy ones near the front of the border . Loads of bulbs showing already crocus - snowdrops and a few daffs which I wouldn't of noticed if I hadn't of cleared the dead perennials. It come on raining again so back inside

I continued to clear leaves from the pots and found that the blackbirds have really been enjoying themselves swapping the labels round. A rose is now labelled as a Hydrangea, one of the Hydrangeas is now a Narcissi, a Clematis now has three different labels in the pot (none of them saying, Clematis), a Leycesteria formosa that is labelled both Dahlia and Tulip - and so it goes on! I could swear I can hear them in the trees laughing at me!

General tidying up, more leaves... repaired some roof tiles (more above the garden than in I suppose!), just soaking up the ambience of a few areas that I want to develop this coming year. Anyone have any good tips for a courtyard style area?

Mulched a few of the less hardy things that have now died down. Then washed part of a greenhouse.

I dug a narrow trench around part of the base of the Observatory and planted 25 free, but late, Daffodils bulbs in it while the weather was at least dry. I've been having trouble getting the Green House door to shut smoothly and properly and, when I took the door off, found a loose bolt that keeps the edge of the door gripping the Green House door channel was loose so I tightened it and then locked it with Instant Glue. But I also found that one of the door Rollers was missing and that the other one was "slightly" worn, so I've ordered another set of door Rollers. The door with the gripping edge of the door tightened and the bolt locked is moving a lot more smoothly so I'll wait for the Rollers to arrive. I got back into the Kitchen for a Mug of Coffee and found the black and white Kitten/Cat, (Fern), was running around the room wearing one of my House Shoes on her head....totally insane:doh::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

@Michael Hewett and @Upsydaisy thank you for your concern. The vet was quite guarded in her prognosis and all the stuff I've read online supports what she said. Life expectancy for cats with renal damage ranges from a few weeks to a couple of years. Plus, he also has a heart murder ( vet said on a scale of 1 - 10 it was a 5 ). The vet thought he could be older than we thought, 10 or more, but also said that his life in Greece could make him appear older. I've been spending past few days digesting what she told us. A chest x - day was discussed and we were warned of the risks. I agreed at the time but now I'm inclined to be hesitant. The purpose of the x -ray is to confirm a diagnosis that is suspected. If the treatment options remain the same then I have to weigh up the risks for doing it against just giving the appropriate medication with x-ray confirmation. She did mention this. The urine sample test hasn't come back yet and I need to have another chat to her when it does. For the time being he has started the new kidney friendly food. He likes it but is still hungry after eating it. Vet said no more treats or human meats either. And, that is another thing we have been thinking about. The new diet and drugs may extend his life but how will his quality of life be if he cannot have the foods he loves. Food is a big thing for him, possibly because he didn't get much in Greece.
                            This was him in Greece

                            This is him now.

Managed to get around three quarters of an hour or so in the garden yesterday, sloshing around in a mud lake, but thoroughly enjoyed the time outside:):yay:. I removed a Pony Tail grass from under the Cherry tree bed and stuck it in a lot that I first filled with compost and some gravel for extra drainage. I also stuck in some Daff bulbs I found in a bag in the garage and two young Toadflax plants that I removed from another pot. The remaining Daffs went into one of the baths. Dead headed the dwarf Buddleja, cut back a Geranium and a Ladies Mantle in another bath and pulled out a few weeds. Made a start of clearing my little pond of leaves and blanket weed. It is very congested and the oxygenation weed has taken over again, despite my pulling lots of it out by the roots in the Spring. I broke the pond net so will need to buy another one - maybe invest in one more sturdy!

@luciusmaximus Sending you and Dimitri hugs. You have given him such a good life and I hope he gets a little more time with you.

We lost Skwij with renal problems when he was 13. He would not eat the special food so we sadly had to have him put to sleep.
